Facts about NCLEX results

Nursing Students NCLEX

Here you go:

Fact: You can pass or fail with minimum or maximum questions. (Edited to add: or any number of questions in between. Average number of questions completed in 2012 before pass/fail was determined with statistical significance was 119 questions for RN and 117 for PN)

Fact: paying $8 for quick results after 48 hours is an accurate pass/fail result (but your BoN maypost results sooner and you can save $8)

Fact: if you attempt pay $200 to try the trick and the charge goes through there are no refunds if it turns out you passed. This has reportedly happened at least one time.

Fact: neither the new nor the old "trick" have any guaranteed accuracy they are/were exploited glitches in the registration process

Fact: the number of questions or types of questions (SATA, prioritization, etc) have no direct correlation to pass or fail

Fact: over 85% of US educated nurses pass the NCLEX on their first attempt.

Fact: once you get the blue screen and your test is over there is NOTHING that you can do to change the outcome of whether you passed or failed. The only way to alter the results of the NCLEX is in your preparation in the years and months leading up to the NCLEX. (Study hard in school, study question rationales, etc)

Fact: it's can be stressful waiting to test and results. This is expected. Try and do something nice for your self the day before and day of your exam. You deserve it.

Well for me I always get mix information from everyone...But I did hear that you can get half of SATA right and get credit . Which doesn't seem right but who knows. Because you only get a pass or fail on the test. For me I had a lot of SATA questions but I still failed the test...who really knows right

Nope. NCSBN answers this in the publicly available FAQ. There are no partial credits for SATA it's all or nothing. So NCSBN really knows.

Here's the factual answer direct from NCSBN. There is no such thing as partial credit on the NCLEX.

How is candidate performance scored on alternate items?

As with standard multiple-choice items, alternate items are scored either right or wrong.

THANK-YOU so much for this post. I take my nclex tomorrow and needed this to calm me down just a little bit. 85% passed on first try makes me feel a little better and the SATA not being high level/passing helps too! My school prepared us from day one for the nclex, and I am grateful for that! I am having positive thoughts and am determined to pass tomorrow morning! Please pray for me lol!

No one said the SATA aren't high level/passing level at all or ever. :) What was said is that their appearance does not mean you are the at higher level questions ..the SATA you get may or may not be at passing level. Therefore, you have to take each one as if they WERE passing level.

Many think SATA = passing level/above passing level and think if you get a lot of them you are doing really well and if you don't get a lot your not doing well. The SATA can contain basic lower level/below passing level information OR they can contain the higher level/at or above passing.

here's another

FACT: SATA are an all or nothing in terms of getting credit for answering it correctly. You must pick each correct answer they are looking for in order to get credit for answering correctly.

FACT:

Don't stress on trying to remember your last question (and answer) before the computer shut off! Getting the last question correct does NOT mean you passed and getting the last question incorrect does NOT mean you failed. It means nothing.

(this applies to those who did not run out of time,,,in that case they 'score' you on your last 60 questions. If ANY of those fall below the passing line, you failed. So, you could still get that last question wrong as long as it was a question that was above the pass line. :)

Not regarding NCLEX per se, but good advice nonetheless: It is recommended that one not use their own name as a username, or photo of them self as their avatar. Including one's email address, phone number and other personal information can have unintended consequences. These forums are part of the Internet and anyone can see them. Just a reminder to protect your personal information carefully so as to avoid the many problems that can occur. To all upcoming test takers: take a deep, cleansing breath and release all the worries over things you can't control. Focus on the task at hand as you take the test, then do something nice and relaxing afterwards. If you leave the test center convinced you failed miserably, you are like the vast majority of test takers. Feeling like you failed does not mean you failed, and remember, > 85% pass on the first attempt. :) ETA: apologies for the dreaded wall of text. Sometimes "smartphone" seems a little like an oxymoron)

Thanks for this informative facts;-) I still have a long way to go. Need to pass my PNLE first.

I agree seeing the more than 85% pass rate made me breath a little easier. I'll remind myself on test day.
