Facts about NCLEX results

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Here you go:

Fact: You can pass or fail with minimum or maximum questions. (Edited to add: or any number of questions in between. Average number of questions completed in 2012 before pass/fail was determined with statistical significance was 119 questions for RN and 117 for PN)

Fact: paying $8 for quick results after 48 hours is an accurate pass/fail result (but your BoN maypost results sooner and you can save $8)

Fact: if you attempt pay $200 to try the trick and the charge goes through there are no refunds if it turns out you passed. This has reportedly happened at least one time.

Fact: neither the new nor the old "trick" have any guaranteed accuracy they are/were exploited glitches in the registration process

Fact: the number of questions or types of questions (SATA, prioritization, etc) have no direct correlation to pass or fail

Fact: over 85% of US educated nurses pass the NCLEX on their first attempt.

Fact: once you get the blue screen and your test is over there is NOTHING that you can do to change the outcome of whether you passed or failed. The only way to alter the results of the NCLEX is in your preparation in the years and months leading up to the NCLEX. (Study hard in school, study question rationales, etc)

Fact: it's can be stressful waiting to test and results. This is expected. Try and do something nice for your self the day before and day of your exam. You deserve it.

FACT: No one on AN can tell you whether you passed or failed no matter what info you give them (unless of course you give them your results page).

The only people who have that answer are Pearson Vue then your BON. So please don't tell us how many questions you had in how many minutes and with how many SATA, WE DON'T KNOW! No one will be able to answer that until you get results!

Time for another BUMP. Perhaps this would get more attention if it had a more salacious/scandalous title? Great information in this thread!

Maybe should re title it "the secrets to the elusive NCLEX results

▪sigh▪ From the recent threads popping up here, it appears to be time to bump this bad boy. Again.

Wonder if we could just sticky the FAQs page from the NCSBN site.

I did a pretty detailed "stop freaking out and READ this" thread awhile back; it would sink to page two, get bumped back up, sink again....and honestly it didn't matter if it was the FIRST thing on the TOP of the page---people DO NOT READ.

I have a question. The first time I tested was 5/20/14 and I answered 265 ? with all categories near passing standard. The second time 7/10 with 263 questions...all categories except 1 were near passing and one was below passing standard. So does this all mean that it is the way I am approaching the questions and I already know the information?

. Do you feel you know the material? You did "worse" on your second test getting below the passing standard. You need to be above the passing line in all areas. Kaplan is good for test taking strategies. They offer a free practice NCLEX if you sign up with your email. Hurst is good review for content. PDA is good for delegation and prioritization.

I actually take the boards on Tuesday at 2pm. I already took off work and everything. I did take the practice Kaplan test and I got a 54%. I know its not the best but I know on the boards you need at least 50% of the questions right. Right?

Not exactly that is oversimplifying computer adaptive testing. You need to prove with a statistical significance that your applied knowledge and critical thinking skills are above the passing line in all areas within 75-265 questions before time runs out. There are different levels of questions (and not all alternate format questions (drag and drop, SATA, ordering, hot spots, drug calculations, etc.) are higher level questions despite the urban legend.) The computer selects the next subject & level of question based upon your previous response. Most of Kaplan recommends 65% plus last I looked. When you review check rationales for answers whether right or wrong. At this point there is not much more to do as cramming has proven to be useless in preparing for an applied knowledge/critical thinking exam like the NCLEX. Cramming usually only works for a regurgitation of memorized facts such as a spelling test.

Could this get a sticky? :)
