I usually use a cold washcloth and place it over my eyes for 10-15 minutes.

Prevention is best- dont cry. But it is just like any other swelling, a cool wash cloth or a cold pack may help.

I use one of those cold packs for ~15 minutes. Does the trick for me. Sometimes though need to use eyedrops to get the redness out as well.

It's funny (in a odd sort of way) that you would ask this, I just got over some major eye and face edema...but mine wasn't from crying I had Cellulitis of my face/eyes. I recommend some ibuprofen and a nice cool cloth over your eyes for about 15 minutes. And on the same thought...sorry something made you sad enough to cry enough to make your eyes puffy.

*sigh* This reminds me of something one of the Directors of Nursing I use to work for told me once, "There's no crying in nursing." He was a donkey's patoot however. I didn't stay there much longer after that. I say there is crying in nursing, just a right place and time for it, otherwise I wouldn't feel human. :)

Cold compress and a nice sigh of relief is best, hon. Hope you're feeling better. :p

Preparation H is good for eye puffiness; I've seen cucumber slices and wet tea bags recommended, also.

I have one of those masks that you can chill or even heat (a bit)..and I LOVE THAT. I just use it because it feels great, and does wonders for my sinus headaches too! Post crying...well I am normally at home for that, so I just let it go! LOL! But I agree to the cool packs big time!

The day I stop crying or caring is the day I know I don't belong in nursing..................................................................... Don't cry? What is that supposed to mean?

Wet tea bags well squeezed out.

I don't know how to get over crying; I usually go in the med room with my bestest friend and put cold wet paper towels over my eyes till I'm ready to face the floor again.

God, I love this job!!!

Yes, but just because one doesnt cry doesnt mean one does not care. The poster never said that they were the one crying.
