how do you get rid of it? anyone have any home remedies?
OK, this is really radical....but I had blethoreplasty (may have spelled it wrong.)
Surgery to remove the fat around my eyes.
I had such awful baggy eyes, and if I cried I couldn't even see for the swelling!
I have never been sorry for getting that surgery. Besides, I got tired of people saying I looked sleepy all the time!
I tried all the home remedies before surgery, and none worked for me.
Don't know if this is your problem, but just wanted to throw it into the mix in case someone else is considering it.
If I cry, before going to sleep, when I wake up I am still puffy... bag of frozen peas does the trick for me....
God forbid, if I get ticked, b/c I am one of those who cry when mad, my face gets all red & blotchy, in addition to the eyes that stay puffy for HOURS!!!!... haven't figured out how to hide that, yet....
NO way can I hide it when I cry, ahhhh the joys of being fair-skinned

if i cry and go to sleep i am puffy and my lids are swollen for hours too! it is so bad that i will stay up with cold washcloths over my face fro 30 mins to an hour after the crying has stopped to avoid the horrible swollen eye look. :imbar
thx guys! and no.. i wasn't upset over nursing issues.. infact i just passed my nclex! men issues that's all! thx for all the ideas! i did the tea bags and cool eye mask - works great!
Well congrats on passing! & a thunk on the head to the mean guy for making you cry!
Oh yes, & I was going to suggest the wet teabags & a cool cloth also, taken with a nice glass of chardonnay of course.
Hugs,
-Sara
I use the tea-bag remedy, but I make myself a nice cup of it and drink it first. Very soothing.
The red, puffy eyes after tears reminds me of a frantic phone call I got (many) years ago from my 5-year-old daughter's school nurse. She wanted me to take the child out of school because the nurse was positive the child had pinkeye.
When I got there, I took one look at her and knew--her eyes were pink, but not from conjunctivitis. Some playground oaf had made her cry.
We went out to lunch and shopping for the rest of the day. We laugh about that to this day. :chuckle
