Hello, I have been reading several post on allnurses, and some of them leave me terrified. I will begin Nursing School this fall. I wanted to know is it true that in Nursing School expect to fail at least one nursing course?:eek: I know that some people probably never failed a course, just trying to see about the majority.:coollook: Thank you

Don't expect to fail but know that it can happen, That is the reality of nursing school and life and general.

And let's just say you did fail... guess what?

There will not be one single solitary student that will think less of you.

Each and every student knows it could happen to them. They all know how hard it is.

I had a classmate who always said, "failure is not an option".

The reality is... it can happen and does happen.

But you must do everything in you power to not let it happen.

You are in control.

If, in spite of your most sincere and best effort, you should fail... take that to mean a change is in order and make the change.

But you are not even in that position!

Why are you torturing yourself?

Stop it!

I don't expect to fail a class, or lose my straight A's

You shouldn't expect to fail, but truth be told MANY do!! It is just important to stay focused & when you think you have studied enough.. study more! From my original 1st semester clinical group of 8 only 3 are still on track to graduate on time. From my clinical group last semester (3rd) only 5/8 are still on track to graduate this December. It wasn't the clinicals that people failed, but rather the theory classes. Many times it is the "easier" class that gets people, because they focused more on the "harder" class. Nursing school is hard work, and you shouldn't expect any less. Work hard & reap the rewards! Good luck to you!

No. Failure of one course means failing out of the program in the vast majority of cases.

NO! that is not true. Don't expect to fail. All I heard before starting nursing school was how hard it was and how to expect all C's if you're normally an A/B student. I just finished my first year and pulled all A's which is better than what I did with my pre-reqs.

Don't psych yourself out either. I heard so many people talk about how horrible pharmacology is and how the teacher failes half the class...I'm getting an A so far (our last exam is this week). It's all in your head. Just take a deep breath and be confident. If you study hard every day/night, you have nothing to worry about. Like another poster said...expect to study your hiney off. You will study like you never have before, but in the end it will be worth it!

Not at all. I never failed nor did most of my graduating class. Study hard, make nursing school the #1 priority in your life and you will be prepared to pass everything on the first try.

Nope, not true. Failing or not is 100% within your own control.

Thanks! I guess I used the wrong wording, it is just that I read on here, that most people dont make it out of Nursing School without have to repeat a class, that terrified me. I am just so nervous.. Thanks for the words of wisdom:yeah:

I know a number of people who had to repeat a class or two. The commonality between all of them..... they slacked off and got lazy halfway through the class. Just keep yourself disciplined and on track; you will be fine. Dont procrastinate because the continuos stream of work will bury you and then itll be that much more difficult to catch up. But thats really it.

Oh, and as previous posters have commented, you could expect to lose a 4.0 gpa pretty easy. But remember, your final grades dont really matter as long as you achieve the passing scores of your program and you do the same on the NCLEX.

C=COMPLETE=RN Dont let ANYONE try to tell you differently. Its not worth the added stress, believe me.

I'd never, ever put that in my head. If I went into Nursing School expecting to fail, I'd probably do terribly and be removed from the program because of stressing about failing...I'd be asking myself, is this that one class I'm going to fail? and Panic. That's just me! LOL, I'll never step foot into NS expecting to fail at anything! Our brains are wonderful things...use them correctly and you won't fail a thing! It just takes focus and straight priorities! :)

Thank you all for the kind words!!!I feel alot better, I will stop reading some of these negative post. Good luck to you all:yeah::yeah:
