Exclusion List

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello,

So I recently found out that I was placed on the State of Ohio exclusion list. I am not on the federal list just the State of Ohio. It has been 5 years and I was a STNA when this happened and I am now LPN almost done with school for my RN. I was employed and got pulled into the office and terminated because they said I was on this list. I don't know nothing about this or how I even got put on this list. I never received a letter nothing. How do I get my name off this list? Please if anyone can help. I am not able to apply for a job as a nurse in the State of Ohio?

Well that escalated quickly.

I knew that facilities could be excluded from Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, but I had no idea that a person could be (especially non-providers like nurses who don't personally bill).

Sometimes nurses do personally bill. In my state, nurses can sign up to be independent nurses with the state's Medicaid program and bill Medicaid directly for private duty nursing services for people whom the state has authorized to receive that care. Not sure if that's the OP's situation but it is possible for nurses to be direct providers with Medicaid.

Unfortunately, being reluctant to speak about what you did wrong, why it was wrong, and what you have learned from it show no accountability for your actions, whether is was intentional or a mistake, and for this reason you aren't hireable to most employers from an ethical standpoint.

most states, if not all, can still see record of incident of everything, even things that were expunged, etc, on background checks. This is because as healthcare workers, its a matter of public safety. I've seen it happen more than once. Since I'm not sure what happened with you, I don't know if this applies

OP's fishy and sounds very defensive right from the start.... and in denial.

OP's posts alone says a lot about his or her character.

I wouldn't post it on the internet as a personal privacy issue... I don't think it has to do with accountability

I don't mean it shows no accountability in regards to the internet's judgement, I mean if and when OP has an interview and has to explain themself with this on their record.

You need to get lawyered up and see what can be done.

Anything else is just speculation, torture or wallowing.

Wow I didn't know I had to go into detail on why I am on the list. Its obviously something I am ashamed of. I came here for help. Not to be ran further down into the ground because I don't tell my story. I have not slept ate or move for that fact. This is something that happened 5 years ago that I paid alot of money to get resolved. Was never told I was going to be put on a exclusion list. Never even heard of it. I have suffered a great deal of embarrassment as it is to let alone have to go through this all over. My lawyer had my record sealed. Thanks for being supportive and helpful.

Might be wise to contact your lawyer and see if they can be of assistance.
