Excelsior Grads - Where are they now?

EC grads,

Post your year of graduation and your specialty/specialties. I'll go first:

I've been a Level II/III Neonatal ICU nurse since graduation in January '06.

Update 5/2018: I've worked for a large NICU since 2009 in bedside and education roles, and I've been a clinical instructor. I finished EC's MS program in nursing education a couple of years ago. I was recently accepted to the Ph.D. program at a state university.

Once again I am so envious of yall! I am having some serious motivational issues with this. I have already enrolled and am already signed up for my tests, I just cant seem to focus.

What were yall studying strategies?

I followed the content guide and studied one section at a time and bought the practice test. You gotta make yourself study. This program requires alot of motivation. You gotta really want it.

Passed CPNE 11/7 2008, Passed RN NCLEX Oregon State 4/15, now I am in the Grand Canyon Uni. BSN program...should be done 10/10...

Graduated earlier this year from EC. I just passed the NCLEX-RN. I am working as a case manager at an insurance company and preparing for the MSN program in the fall.

Graduated from Excelsior 4 years ago. Started off in Med/Tele ...went from there to ER and then to ER psych which I found is my passion. I am currently the ADON of a psych facility and working on my BSN through EC. Eventually , I would like to be a psych NP.

How wonderful! I am a Respiratory Theapist also, 30 yrs, and am going to LPN school. I am considering EC for Rn after I complete my current program. How long did it take you?

Why don't you go from Resp Therapist to RN via Excelsior. This is an option, skip LPN go straight to RN.

update...been a rn since june currently working in on a locked down unit for males and females ..weekend doubles -baylor plan..got a really good deal because i was a lvn there several years prior... i am fixing to do the flu clinics this fall then start my rn to bsn at texas woman's university in the spring... i am looking for a internship in the hospital not sure of the area...but definitely have a lot more doors that have been opened up for me...

did cpne 10/08, passed nclex 12/08, worked at hospital and DOC, start rn-bsn program at Grand Canyon University day after tomorrow!!!

Is the program expensive, and can you pay it out? How long does it take to complete, LPN to RN?

with over 12yrs as a medic :redlight: ;prior years as an emt and phlebotomist, i graduated ec asn program august 21, 2009 and passed my nclex the same day. it took me 1 year and 9 months to complete the program.

i am starting my new job in november on the cvsu. i am also enrolled in the rn-bsn program at chamberlain starting oct 26th.

i found excelsior a perfect fit for me.

hello okscrapper,

ec does have some sore of payment plan. i just paid as i went along. text books are always expensive but you can search half.com or ebay for cheaper used books ...but anyway, the practice tests are $65.00 and the actual tests go from $205-265 i believe. if you do a workshop for the cpne, then thats another $700-1000, then the actual cpne is 1,900 plus travel and hotel costs.

it is not cheap but it is more afforable then the tranditional schools. for you, you might want to call ec and discuss your options. find out what credits they will take from prior college courses you have taken.
