100% on my exam and it wasn't exciting... :(

Nursing Students General Students

Hi everyone,

I recently got a 100% on my Med/Surg 2 exam. I'm normally a pretty good student. I get mostly A's but I have gotten a couple Bs. However, I really excel in clinical and I've gotten nothing but praise from my instructors. So, I actually feel pretty good about becoming a nurse. I feel like I put in a lot of effort and I honestly deserve the grades and praise I get.

However, recently with this 100% I feel sad and offended because my professor indirectly accused me of cheating... She didn't directly say it, but it was pretty obvious. She was asking me how I study and if I normally get these types of grades and said, "No one has EVER gotten a 100%, so we just wanted to talk to you..." and pretty much had a look on her face that said, "CHEATER!" It really really bothers me because I would NEVER EVER do something like that. I work WAY too hard and am paying WAY to much for school, along with the fact that I HONESTLY want to be an amazing nurse... anyway, you understand now, I would never do anything to hurt my chances of getting my BSN. Even though I know I would never cheat and I could have many of my past professors and classmates back me up, I don't want it to come to that. How can a professor automatically assume a student was cheating just because they did well on a test?? I guess it really hurts because I know myself and how I am with school... I should have been beyond thrilled and celebrated, etc, but all I can think about is that my professor is thinking totally different of me and that's really bothering me. :(

I study from many different materials, I never ever just read the book. I usually don't even read all the required material because I found out that that just doesn't work for me. I use like 6 different study materials and I feel like I'm finally figuring out how to "study smart."

Anyway, does anyone have any imput? I know some of you will think I'm being ridiculous, but this is just how I am.

Thanks everyone

I have had something similar happen to me. In nursing school my teacher commented on my good grades and asked what I did to study, I explained all the resources and even showed her in my bag how I had tons of review books, she was very quiet but said " oh, well it shows." and left it at that. I think she thought she had me pegged as a cheater.

On the other hand in HS I remember working my butt off on a paper and when I asked my teacher for feed back, she said " I don't think you wrote it." and walked away. She never made any formal complaint but that comment hurt to this day, 9 years later. Just let it go and know that you are smart and you don't need their approval. You can ace their dumb tests.

@TMT2012...where did you get the NCLEX book from and what is the name

?

Just more evidence on why one SHOULD NOT become a nurse. A clinical instructor (or class instructor) that is petty, backstabbing, placing accusations on others is just a mirror of what's going on out there in the "real world." I still don't understand why everyone is in line trying to become a nurse.

I still don't understand why you hang out with us all the time, seeing as you aren't becoming a nurse apparently. Or are you? I'm confuzzled. (And feeling feisty.) :coollook:

Last quarter I got a 100% on the Med-surg ENDOCRINE exam, and while the teacher was positive, the other students had a negative reaction! They assumed since majority of the class failed it then I must have cheated somehow. I am one of the rare people that just happen to enjoy the endocrine material so the material really stuck. But ive learned, even though we are in college, 1/2 of the class still acts like theyre still in high school with all that petty crap. Screw them, and your negative teacher too, just be proud of your hard work :) ...and share your study tips, haha!

Congrats on your 100! Don't let anyone make you feel bad because you made a perfect score! And do NOT attempt to do bad on the next exam. (not saying you plan on doing it) I've gotten a perfect score on a nursing exam before and was looked down upon. However the people that were actually cheating never got questioned after numerous complaints. Just keep up the good work!

Same thing in my class! I was shocked to learn how many people CHEAT! One guy even got caught but used his good looks to charm the teacher out of any punishment. Ridiculous.

I just started nursing school and got 100% on my first exam. I would have been very upset if they accused me of cheating.Have you taken a lot of classes outside of nursing? I have, which is why I think I found the test easier than say, the abnormal psychology tests I had to take (and those were open book).

OP, I study very similar . It's time consuming but it was the other study method that helped me score a above 94% on a test where as before I was having trouble taking nursing exam tests. It all depends on the topic/subject for the class and every study method is different per class

But still instructive. With the beginning of the new school year upon us, it's good to remind folks that everything old is new to somebody, and using Search to check out previous students' experience is a good way to learn things before just starting up a new thread. "Do a little research before you ask for help" are good words to live by!

The best way to prove it is keep getting awesome grades. Be so good they cant ignore it. If you always score well, they will go from concern to amazment and respect.

What nclex book and hesi book do you use? Also what are some good study tips. Im going to pick YOUR brain. Obviously what your doing works for you. Lol

Are you in my class? I had the same thing happen, I had the highest score in one of my classes and the other students acted jealous, got 100% on a few tests and they say, well I have a life, you must not....ummmm hey I'm in nursing school, no I don't have a life, I work and I got to school and study.....but I knew that going in. I haven't had an instructor accuse me of anything, heck they were the opposite, I ask will I be okay for passing the class and they look at me like I'm nuts, telling me that I'll be fine, I'm one they don't worry about. There are times when I want to be worried about! LOL I know for me I shouldn't worry what others act like, but I have to go to clinicals with these people and don't want to be the one on the outs, we all want to be part of the group, but we don't have to be best friends.

Others have it right, just because no one has done it before doesn't mean it will never happen - you just broke the mold and be proud. I'm proud of you!
