Eww white uniforms??

So, I just found out that we will be wearing white uniforms next semester....white scrubs to be exact. Anyone else have to wear white? Normally I wouldn't mind, but I am the type of person that spills something on themselves everytime they wear white. In fact, last time I wore white pants (5+ years ago) I just happened to sit on a chocolate cupcake. No joke.

I guess I will just have to buy like 5 pairs incase I get some sort of lethal permanent cupcake stain.

I like white! Just not ALL white. Anyone have anything worse to make me feel better?

Well we had our uniform fitting last week and they weren't as bad as I thought, they are all white but the pants are cargo style pants, which are a little better then just plain elastic scrubs. The top is boxy unisex thing hoping we can wear a shirt under it. It's all white too but I hear they wash really well and have a coating to keep off spills. I am excited because it means I am that much closer to being a nurse so I'll wear them proud! (of course ask me again in 2009) lol

Yep, we wear white at my school! Not a big deal to me, I don't mind it. :)

Same here :)

Careful with the Tide pens. The bleach solution they use will turn some white fabrics yellow, like perspiration stain yellow.

We had to wear horribly ill-fitting scrub style pants with an elastic waist (I'm a drawstring kind of girl) and a polo with the school crest on it. We had a choice of white or navy - I was all navy, all the time. The uniforms were made out of possibly the most scratchy, unbreathable polyblend fabric imaginable. This year the school switched over to scrub tops with the crest. We have nursing students from my school on my unit fairly often and I'm still not over being jealous!

I have never heard the term "birth control blue" so please don't be alarmed when I ask what that is.

Would that be birth control blue because it is the color of the blue pill or because it is so ugly that it will prevent anyone from sleeping with you?

I was dying to know this too I have never heard that term and was trying to think what it would mean LOL.

It's so ugly that it will keep me single; that, or my sense of humor. The vest is long, snug at the top and loose at the bottom. Sort of looks like a dress. Which is bad in my case because I'm a guy. I did a presentation in my OB class regarding birth control. I was very tempted to wear the uniform...:innerconf

This may be sharing too much, but just chalk it up to a helpful hint and overlook me, LOL!

Do remember to wear white panties. Most of mine aren't white, so I make a point to lay white ones out next to all of my stuff for clinical mornings because I did have a clinical mate who totally forgot and had on red undies that were very obvious everytime she bent over to do anything. :roll

Do remember to wear white panties.

Actually the best color panties to wear (if you are of a lighter skin tone) would be the flesh toned colors, not white. White would be the next choice if you don't have any flesh colored ones handy. That stark white color against a skin tone other than stark white shows. Obviously any other color would show through in a second!

The best way to think of which color would blend in best under the scubs is, which color blends into your skin better. Is it an ivory color? beige, etc. **stark white would be most appropriate for me in the dead of winter! I have been described as having "milk" colored skin then :lol2:)

Nothing drives me more insane than seeing someone with white pants on with ANY color panties. Especially seeing, reds, yellows, orange, stripes, polka dots, patterns, writing on the panties etc. Tacky, tacky, tacky. Sadly, the majority of my fellow students in my class tend to lean toward that "tacky" side and wear what ever color panties they happen to grab that day. Its almost as if the purposfully grab them.:angryfire

Same thing goes for a bra thats any color other than the skin toned colors..what would possess you to wear a red polka dotted bra under a white scrub top??

Yes, ours are white too. I mean no disrespect to people who have had to wear them before, but I echo your sentiments. Ewww. White is the one color (more like non color) that makes me look huge. I have no problem getting stains out and I understand why white is the choice, but to be brutally honest there are certain times of the month the last color I want to wear is white. Also you do have to be very careful of what you are wearing underneath, and any little smudge shows up against the stark whiteness. One time I was shutting my trunk and the trunk edge rubbed my scrub top. I ended up with a lovely smudge. This last bit is all me, but I am one of those people who, without fail, whenever I am eating anything, manage to drop some right down the middle of my chest. My family just gives me the "mom did it again" roll of the eyes.

We have to wear all white where I work. I love all the cute colorful scrubs but I must admit the all white uniforms do look more professional.

We wear all white too, but at least we can buy whatever brand/style we want. I didn't own a single pair of white/nude underwear, so that was another expenditure. Then we were required to show some "tasteful cheer" for halloween, so I had to go out and purchase some halloween socks that will never be worn again. Ours are better than a lot of schools though, and since I spill coffee on my scrubs every single day, at least with white I can toss them in with some bleach. That is one thing about white - what if you have a pt with C Diff all day long? At least if you go home and bleach the heck out of everything you won't feel like you're taking it with you.

We have white tops and navy pants. I have to admit that I am NOT a fan of the white tops - I think the color combo looks fantastic, and I think white looks very crisp and professional, but I am one of those people who avoids white clothes because if I am wearing white, I WILL spill something.

I've already had to replace 2 scrub tops because they ended up stained with pen ink from when I forgot to close my pen before putting it in my pocket. One would have been ruined no matter what color/pattern it was, but the other would not have been noticeable on a darker color or a pattern.

One more semester of white tops!

We had to wear white scrubs but any scrubs we wanted so I didn't mind it so much.
