I never understood why some people use the phrase "evidence-based research" instead of just "research." What type of research is NOT based on evidence? All scientific research is based on evidence. (Someone might make a case for mathematical research and philosophical research ... but when people say "evidence-based research," they are referring to scientific research, which by definition is based on evidence, which makes the phrase redundant.)
"Evidence-based practice" makes sense to me as a phrase as not all practices are evidenced-based. But "evidence-based research" in a health care context is a poor choice of words.

I was joking with my boss today that from now on everything I say is going to start with "Evidence based research shows that.............and finish my thought.
Such as "Evidence based research shows that if you runaround with your shoes untied your going to fall on your face."
