I guess there's always gotta be one in every class, you know they type that can't resist saying..."well I work at such-n-such place and we do it this way...." ON EVERY TOPIC!!! or ask 20 questions where all the answers from the teacher are "yes" because it's some elementary ? that they are just asking to let everyone know they already know something. Im gonna start bringing water balloons to class and throwing 'em at people who can't SHUT UP!!! :chuckle

oh and btw....can y'all quit tappin and clickin your pens!!!!! :angthts:

feel free to add your frustrations, and what should be done with these people!

Okay, I have to admit, I am a pen clicker. But I try sooooo hard not to. I don't even realize I am doing it most of the time. Last year I had classmates point it out to me and it kind of turned into a joke. So when I start doing it now, they just point it out and I put my pen down. I wonder if there isn't some way you could do the same. Mention how annoying it is by making a joke about it. When this happened to me, I didn't get upset about it. I just kind of laughed about it myself. Eventually everyone in class would stop me before I even got started! Plus I started buying twisty pens. Which I still play with constantly but it doesn't make any noise.

I guess I'm just tired of all the people I met during my nursing school experience,I can't help myself but especially those that think they are better than everybody else.I have girls in my classess who think they are God's gifts (dont know why though????),who constantly look down on people and in their eyes whom ever speaks up is stupid.

Makes me think you know why on God's earth did they went into nursing.

I pray they will never be my nurse,I would RUN,RUN,RUN.

And the funny thing is NO ONE LIKES those GIRLS.

People are nice to them but they pretend you know what I mean.

Sorry I just cant stand people like that.I guess this is my pet peeve.

I thought I arleady graduated from high school I guess NOT.

In my RN class now, I'm looking for the next "It's All About Me." So far, I've got 2 candidates who are doing dueling "kiss up" to the teacher....Front row, right in front of the slide screen, bringing the teacher water at break, (even when she had a half full bottle already) constant "oh, yes...absolutely..." to the point where the guy beside me leaned over and asked, "Is this the Stepford Wives nursing class?"

I can see where you are coming from. I often get very annoyed too. I don't mind when people ask questions and comment on things, but I get very irritated when I am trying to concentrate on the subject and people always interrupt and tell stories about themselves. MOST of the time, the stories are unnecessary and do not contribute anything to the lecture topic.

I guess I am just the type that wants to get things done as quickly as possible. I often notice that lectures that could have lasted an hour end up taking 3 because they get so off topic and result in irrelevant personal stories.

So, yes, that annoys me too. If I had my choice I would take the lecture courses online.

My two cents...

1) I'm paying good money to have the teacher lecture on as much material as possible during a semester. Yes, there are stupid questions and they take away from this lecture time. (99.9% of the stupid questions are answered in the text book. Please read it!)

2) You should always strive to use proper spelling and grammar - otherwise you come across as uneducated or lazy. You really notice the "dumbing down" of our country when people attack the grammar police and take pride in sloppy or poor writing skills.

:yeah:

you go girl, some people search this site just to cause a big drama seen.I think your feelings are very justifiable. You sound to me like a very smart gal. Thanks for speaking on behalf of alot people that feel the same way!!!!!!!!

Oh, and I suggest you change your attitude and start being more tolerant of people. After all, you may have to deal with someone like me someday and it wouldn't behoove you to be so sarcastic with someone if they said something that was merely meant to be a lighthearted joke to release some frustration that you took and twisted into a hateful vengence that was never intended to be more than funny.

Wow, this thread really took off didn't it? I guess we all have our pet peeves and I find it interesting to see a discussion where one contributer's pet peeve is...well, the previous poster. It reminds me of the circumcision thread that has continued unabated for the longest time.

I have no interest in being a moderator, but before this thread ends in name calling and the hurling of insults, can we all take a step back, realize that we are talking with total strangers who are simply voicing their opinions and respond in kind with our opinions. There is no need for personal attacks here.

Ok but in order to correct someone's else grammar the person who attempts to do it should also write grammatically.Do you see the point I'm trying to make?, people make mistakes all the time...perfectionalists,anal people usually live shorter(that is the fact we learned in YES nursing school)

I had a A+ in university English and when I write on the internal boards I really dont CARE if I make couple of mistake.

By the way I know two languages, how many do you know?

And lastly who ever think I'm uneducated or lazy, well good for them they are such geniuses.

As far as I'm concerned if I get my point across it is enough for me.

To the OP: I totally understand! I HATE that student too, and I swear every class I have always has at least one.

In my class, it's the lady who sits in the middle and she doesn't actually ask questions she just interjects stories about her family, husband, and her expriences as a home health aide. That's great, but I'm not paying good money, leaving my son in daycare, busting my butt to make it through NS to listen to your stories, I'm here to learn from our NURSING INSTUCTOR about NURSING!!!!

First, this kind of behavior towards a fellow nurse/human being is what drove me to become a NP. Snarky behavior is not becoming.

And Coltsgrl I bet the very ones protesting the loudest were the ones in their nursing class asking those annoying attention seeking questions. Yes, every class has one!

You guys need to lighten up. Some of you more than others.

You know who you are...

I remember a class where a student was constantly correcting people. He corrected how the professor, and other students pronouced things. He corrected spelling on the board, and power points. He corrected punctuation, grammer, and anything else he could point out.

It got really annoying because it was a science class, but it felt like English. We could get a good flow going because he kept breaking it with his corrections. Finally the professor just started ignoring him.
