Nice!! I'm glad you were there and able to help this student. And glad EMS was right there too!! Any idea what might have triggered the reaction?
No idea. The student is also a FF because she hates everything except recess, so the plus was that I know her baseline well.
The teacher reported that after recess she started to complain of a stomach ache but the teacher put her off (because of above), but then she started acting sleepy and asked to see me right before the alarm sounded. she appeared at my door wheezing with facial swelling right as I was about to leave.
No signs of bug bites, no change in her lunch, no snacks in class.

Right in the middle of an unexpected fire alarm (a kindergarten student pulled one), I had a student with no history or asthma or food allergies go into anaphylaxis! I have given epi once before to a loved one, but this was my first time giving it to a student. The student was so scared but she really did amazing and she responded well to the epi and breathing treatment I started her on.
Thankfully because of the fire alarm situation EMS was already on the property and able to come.
Everyone was panicked, and despite never wanting bad things to happen to a student, it was a little exciting to be in full acute care nurse mode for a moment.
