Enomic recession, how is the job market for nurses in Dallas?

Want to move to Dallas, worried about not be able to land a job even I have years of med/surg and tele experiences?
Do you think nurses still can find jobs in Dallas area with ongoing economic recession? Thank you

Dallas in general is not feeling this "Recession".

The nursing job market in Texas, more specifically Dallas and Fort Worth, has been healthy and robust for my friends, coworkers, and I. As far as finding work has been concerned, Texas has been very good to me.

I haven't heard of anyone in my class having problems finding jobs. If we can as new grads, I'd think experience should prevail! :)

Oh yeah definitely... DFW market is better for nurses than other places right now. I graduated from TCU in FW last year and all my friends got the jobs they wanted. I, on the other hand, moved to Austin, and the market SUCKS here. It's next to impossible to get the position you want. You should be fine in DFW.

I have been looking for a part-time or PRN job in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I see lots of FT openings, but few PRN. So, I think you should be just fine. I agree that DFW is not feeling the recession as much as other areas, there is a lot of growth in this area.

Thank you. I will use my PTO to visit Dallas or be a travel RN first in Dallas. If I land a job there, I will move my family over. Thank you. Texan are nice.

I graduated LVN school around here in 2006 then moved out of state for a couple years. I recently moved back in September this year. Maybe I was unrealistic, but I thought I wouldn't have any problem landing a job in a hospital since I had couple years of hospital experience and good references. Anyhow, I applied to just about every LVN opening (even a few that were within my specialty area) in every hospital in my area. I ended with only one interview at LTACH which did not get hired at. For now I have given up on looking for hospital employment since I am enjoying what I started dong in hospice. The whole process was extremely frustrating. I'm not sure if my situation was related to and "economic recession" or just the going trend of the area. I can't imagine that an RN would have any problem getting employed in a hospital. Guess it's time to go back to school...

While the economy is very good in Texas, all US hospitals get the same reimbursement and the hospital funding is level funding. What is probably helping Dallas is the oil industry which had record profits this year.

Now the Oil companies are hurting, what lies ahead for the future is anyone's guess.

Already, I see Lpn are having difficulties are having difficultly finding a job, next it will be new grads.

Good news everything is a cycle. What goes down comes up.

Dallas RN jobs still available. Hopefully I can get a job in Frisco or Plano areas. That is where I want to live. I heard good things about these areas.
