I'm from the Philippiens. I passed the California-NCLEX. Since I'm having problems acquaring a valid SSN, I'm planning to endorse my California-NCLEX to State of Vermont just so that I could get a permanent license in US. Supposed I already got RN license in Vermont and already working there as a nurse, is it still possible for me to reaaply my NCLEX in California (without having to retake the test) eventhough it has long been expired? My relatives are in California and I want to be as closed to them as possible. I will apprecaite any form of response.:)

what do you think,, if the employer is offering 14 dollars/hr. but they will shoulder all the expenses, like the plane ticket and 3 months free boarding house if ever when i get to florida? what do you think about the 14/hr?

Sorry but $14 sounds low, even if paying expenses and may even find it illegal to offer lower what they would offer a US nurse. You may want to check out the Florida state forum and see if anyone there is posting what pay is like

14USD per hour is low. Considering that you will also pay for tax.

thanks for that info!!! yeah $14 dollars sounds so low, but just to get in the USA i'll just accept it :( but i will talk to my emplyer next week and ask her about it,,.. if ever i endorse my application to florida,, would they accept if i dont have SSN to show them?

It is illegal for them to offer lower rate than what they would pay a US nurse. Answered your post in another thread re SSN

$14/hr is barely a living wage. Even where I live, where housing and cost of living is very cheap, the lowest pay rate I know of for new nurses is around $20/hr.

hi evryone, while browsing at the cgfns site i've found and read about this:

as of april 26, 2010, the california board of registered nursing (brn) no longer accepts applications that do not contain a valid u.s. social security number (ssn). the california nursing practice act provides for a unified examination and licensing application. once an applicant passes the examination, a license is automatically issued. under these circumstances, the brn cannot accept applications for the examination and licensure, without a valid u.s. social security number.

prior to april 26, 2010, once an applicant passed the nclex-rn examination, the applicant was allowed a three-year time period to submit a valid ssn. after that time period had elapsed, the file was considered abandoned and the file was destroyed. additionally, an applicant was also allowed to request an extension on the file abandonment date. this was done as a courtesy to the applicant. as of april 26, 2010, the brn will no longer grant an extension on the file abandonment date.

an applicant, who has passed the nclex-rn exam and is affected by file abandonment and file destruction, still has the following options:

- once the valid u.s. social security number is obtained, the applicant may re-apply to the brn. the applicant will not have to retest, because even though the file is abandoned and destroyed, the nclex-rn test result is still valid. you do need to submit a new application fee schedule for examination; a transcript and the fingerprint card. when the board receives all the requirements (a new application; transcript from school; the fingerprint clearance and a valid u.s. ssn) we needed; the ca rn license will be issued.

- an applicant may request that the california nclex-rn test result (nclex-rn candidate report with your picture) be provided to any u.s. jurisdiction; if the applicant wishes to apply to a jurisdiction that does not require the ssn for licensure (there is a $10 fee that must be included with a test result (nclex-rn candidate report with your picture) request). the applicant must contact other u.s. jurisdictions to inquire as to each jurisdiction’s licensure requirements. for a list of u.s. jurisdictions, please visit the national council of state boards of nursing (ncsbn) official web site at: [color=#a92626]https://www.ncsbn.org/index.htm and access the contact information under boards of nursing.

- to assist an applicant who is requesting a visascreen® certificate from the international commission on healthcare professions (ichp), the brn will certify the applicant’s california nclex-rn test results (there is a $60 fee that must be included with the certification request). information related to the visascreen® certificate requirements may be found on the international commission on healthcare professions official web site at: [color=#a92626]http://www.cgfns.org/sections/programs/vs/

1. So does this really mean that even if the three year window has elapsed, once I get my SSN I just need to pay the fees and follow the step below and still WONT be required to retake the NCLEX test?

“Once the valid U.S. SSN) we needed; the CA RN license will be issued.”

2.You do need to submit a new Application Fee Schedule for Examination; i get confused by this,, do we have to pay for the application fee schedule for examination?? but it was stated there that no exam will be taken again.

3. now My problem is, i just read about this issue just rigght now and i' am currently working on my files to be transferred to vermont, i already wrote a letter to cali for them to send me the candidate report,,verified license, and requested for my transcript to be send to the cgfns, but i haven't paid for the CES yet.....OR...should i just wait for me to have an employer to give me SSN and have a california license?? and also it would prevent me from paying $385 for the CES required by vermont which is so expensive.

4. if ever i pursue to have a license in vermont does it protect or save my NCLEX file? for how many years???

You need to check how your NCLEX results are safe with CA because if they destroy your file where is the NCLEX results kept.

I personally would just go ahead and get CES done and license with Vermont and know with certainty that as long as you maintain your license with Vermont or any state once you are there and working your NCLEX results are definitely safe

NCLEX results might be kept by NCSBN.

Is this about CGFNS-CES? Your college transcript (TOR) together with the academic request form must be sealed in one envelope from your nursing school/university. Some school handles the responsibility in mailing the documents. Your HS diploma must be sent by you. Don't put them together, your documents might not be accepted by CGFNS. You will waste more money and time if they will reject your documents. You can send them via express mail (post office) if you want to save some money. It will cost you around P788 compare to P1300 at DHL or FEDEX. Send your documents on Thursday or Friday morning because their cut-off date is Friday (3PM). Your documents will be at CGFNS on Wednesday. You can tract you package via USPS website.
