Emory Fall 2015 Applicants

U.S.A. Georgia

So the application for the Fall 2015 BSN traditional/ ABSN/MSN has just opened up. I thought it may be nice to start a thread so any of the applicants can check on each others processes and get to know one another..

Does anyone have advice about the "leadership experience" section of the resume? I have tons of volunteer experience, peer health educator, internship, anatomy TA etc etc but I have never held a "leader" position in a club or organization or anything like that. Any advice about how to tackle this? I usually just list Education, Professional Experience, Community Involvement, Research Experience, and Certifications/Membership..... I have never done a Leadership Experience section! Help

I think you can just put what position you held in an organization such as like secretary of a club. I don't think you need to do a leadership section per se.

My problem is that I have never done anything like being a secretary or president. I didn't do clubs in undergrad, I just volunteered by butt off. Thanks for the suggestion :) any other ideas on how to do this?

Yeah, I don't think it's required as a section it just says make sure to include your leadership roles if you had some. Don't worry I only had secretary of a club! I don't really have much else as leadership.

"Resume including work experience, community service, leadership roles, and research opportunities."

I'm sure your volunteering experience makes up for it!!! :D

Anyone applying for any of the fellowships?

I think I might apply if I can get the essay cranked out haha. Are you going to?

Maybe. Did you get the email about it today?

Yeah I did! I saw the scholarships on the site but I didn't know how to apply for them yet and I guess they sent them out just now but they aren't giving us very much time...

I know! For some reason I thought that they were due in January, or something like that. I think I am going to apply to one, as it is relevant with what I'm planning to do and what I have experience in. The numbers that they listed as the averages are really intimidating....I'm happy with my scores and GPA, but wow, they are not that high, lol

Yeah my GPA isn't on par to what they suggest but it doesn't matter you can just give it a shot. Although it does say it's based on merit but you never know unless you try! Maybe not that many people will apply since they gave us so little time! :o

i haven't submitted my application yet... doing so perhaps around thanksgiving.
