Emory absn 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

I figured I would start a thread for the upcoming application cycle for Emory's ABSN program. I am excited to get everything in and apply, I am just waiting to take my TEAS.

btw, what are you getting your masters in? and why the change for a bsn+msn? super curious!

I'm doing an MPH in Epidemiology! And I am only doing BSN not the MSN! I'd like to gain some clinical exposure before I lock myself into a specialty although I would love to get my MSN/DNP after getting some work experience under my belt. And I have some current work affiliations with the nursing school, which opened my eyes to the nursing field so that's what drew me to it initially followed up with some awesome shadowing experiences from Emory BSN alums. I like that I'll have the Epi background to help me in the evidence based learning approach since we learn a ton about statistical analysis and interpreting disease odds, risks, etc. in relation to various exposures. I wouldn't say I'm nececassirly switching but more finding a solid complement to my current masters. So the financial aid included work study, emory nursing loans, grants, and fed direct loans totalling 25k for the 2017-2018 academic year. I'm not sure how the following year's aid will be in that we only attend fall semester so we shall see. I'm not sure how the bsn+msn track would differ.

Quick question: have you completed the student action form? I have all green check marks, got my acceptance letter, have opus access, but I did not complete the action form yet. I wanted to wait until I got my financial aid info before completing it. Now i am wondering if I need to complete it in order to get financial aid, since I haven't received any updates.

I did not complete my action form yet, only my FAFSA information.

I am in the process of applying. What was a range for the TEAS test that most of you all were in and your GPA. Were any of you still taking classes during the application process.

Hey guys- has anyone received a financial aid package yet? I emailed a while back and they said anytime between then and January but I still haven't heard back

Hey mgates, I reached out to them because I really wanted to know before student admit day since I'll have to travel and miss class/work for it, but they said it could be that we don't find out until February.. :(

So, we will see what happens I suppose. Have to practice patience.. lol. Easier said than done! ;)

Let me know if you hear anything.

February?! Yikes thats a long time to be wondering about something so important! I will definitely let you know if i hear anything

Hi everyone! Emory Nursing Admission Fellow here!

We have been browsing through this feed and saw a couple of common questions being asked concerning admission requirements, financial aid packages, and program deferments.

Admission requirements: The average GPA for admitted students is 3.5. Students are encouraged to submit SAT, ACT, or GRE test scores that fall within the 50th-99th percentile of all test takers. Individuals taking the TEAS are encouraged to obtain adjusted individual total scores of 90%. You can still have program courses in-progress while applying to the School Of Nursing and receive acceptance; we just expect them to be completed no later than the first day of classes.

Financial Aid Packages: We had a high influx of applicants for both of our priority deadlines, so our staff is diligently working with the Admission Committee to organize and complete all of our admitted students' financial aid packets. We appreciate your patience and hope to get them out to everyone soon!

Deferment: Admitted students in any of our programs have the option to defer acceptance. On your checklist, in the application portal, you should have an Reply to Admission form that you must complete. It should have Defer Decision as an option within the drop-down menu. If you are having difficulties with submitting your information, please contact our office ([email protected])

Is anyone still waiting for an admission decision?? They said we would here something no later than 1/15 and I still haven't heard anything.

Btw, I submitted in October

Same here.... nothing and met the priority deadline.

A few hours after I posted that, I got an update on my application lol I got waitlisted :-) I'm pretty happy about that, it's better than an initial denied letter, so I still have a chance. Anyone who's still waiting for a decision, check your application for an update!
