Emory ABSN/MSN 2016 Program

Published

Hi everyone,

I thought I would get a thread started for the Emory ABSN/MSN 2016 application cycle. I am going to the information session next Friday, July 24th for the program.

Has anyone else started to get ready for this application cycle?

Hi Cynthia, thank you for sharing. can you share any insights about the waitlist? I have been waitlisted since November and I have not heard anything.. Do you know how often they go to the waitlist?

I think people will get off the waitlist in March, sometime after the 15th. If I'm not wrong, it works the same way as other nursing schools where they give accepted students a deadline and then notify waitlisted students after the deadline to fill up any remaining spots.

@Cynthia_Marie: Are you in the ABSN program? What is it like? Are you going for a specialty? Thanks :)

Thank you Cynthia for sharing your experience! As bad as I want to call and check constantly, I am avoiding doing so in effort to not be annoying! I can appreciate the holistic process since my grades/experience are what make me a "stronger" applicant vs that stinking GRE! Plus working overnight has made it difficult for me to get to the open houses as we are currently a little short staffed. Even reading the acceptance rate on this forum has made me nervous!

I do believe the decision deadline is March 1? is that correct? Atleast I will hopefully know something by then! Can't decide if the saying "No news is good news" really applies to this case but I hope so :)

Has anyone started a Emory ABSN/MSN facebook group for the 2016 cohort yet?

I thought I would post on here for people who have been waitlisted that I withdrew my acceptance in the ABSN/MSN program to attend a different program. Good luck to everyone in the future :)

Yes, there is a facebook page for the cohort. However, since Emory is the one who started the page, you don't get access to it until you are accepted, have paid your deposit, and get your Emory email.

@ignisvirdae is correct! If on the wait list, you will receive notification on your admission status (and and any other action required for your application) after March 15th.

I am not in the ABSN program, I am the Traditional Second Degree BSN program. We do have a lot of courses with the ABSN students and I will say, from feedback from some of my friends, that their program is little more intense than ours- due to the fact they are going at a much faster pace than BSN students. However, the Emory Nursing Program as a whole is a pretty rigorous but extremely rewarding program. They push you in order to make you a strong nurse!

Figured that I would let everyone know that I got in for AMSN for FNP, but will not be saying yes to the spot as I got into my number 1 (OHSU). Best of luck to everyone!

hello, i was just placed on the waitlist today.

i applied on january 31 and created my OPUS account yesterday.

i have not been asked to interview or for other documents.

i have the sinking feeling that this is a bad sign...i know i applied late in the cycle and this is a competitive program.

does anyone have any insight on how the waitlist works?

congrats to those who have been accepted, and good luck to everyone else. thanks

Hello! I was just accepted into this program and would like to get any information. Are there any current or recent grads on this thread?

I'm not a recent grad or anything. But I was accepted in November, as well as, there are other admitted students who may have gone to the admitted students day and attended the webinars (like me) who you could get good info from. [emoji4] So feel free to ask anything you think we can (or can't :p ) answer!
