What are some funny C/O people have had coming into your triage area? Misspelled words too...

We had a lady come in the other night because she ate raw chicken -Claimed she didn't know it was raw.

Lots of people come in with soar throats.

We also had a mom who tried to spell diarrhea several times on the check in -Finally crossed it out and wrote S**Ts a lot.

Some of my favorites The guy who had a roach crawl in his ear so he sprayed Raid in his ear or the 18 y/o guy who "poured Peroxide on his hand and it turned white" or the couple that got "stuck together" EMS brought them in on top of one another on the stretcher.

The patients at our ED have to write their own cheif complaint...we have a running sheet of some of the stuff we've seen:

""burned lip from salt and vinegar tater chips"

QUOTE] O my gosh-we need a Life flight stat!!!! Seriously=my son ate a bagful a few years ago.You should have seen his face....Lips huge and white....I told my husband" If he stops breathing call 911...I don't KNOW either one of you"

Allergic to:

ambien

ativan

loritab

phenergan

demerol

morphine

etc

Nurse- "have you ever had any surgery or been hospitalized?"

Pt- "no"

Nurse-"Any medical problems?"

Pt-"no"

Ok... how the heck do you know you are allergic to all these wonderful drugs then? :uhoh3:

In L&D the other night. Pt comes by EMS becuase she has been "pouring blood for 3 days" (thats what was written on the triage sheet). Is she wearing a pad for this "massive amt" of blood?... no. Is there any blood on her perineum or anywhere?... no. When I check her cervix is there any blood on my glove?... no. When I ask where the heck all this blood is she finally says, after prodding, that it just happened twice in the past 3 days when she wiped.. Ummm guess she wanted to ride with EMS or something.

I'm just peeing my pants practically........But the clincher was the mother that brought her toddler (a little over the age of 1) into the ED for resp distress. Kid was pink, crying and screamimg...SpO2 was a little low and there was a bit of wheezing. When I ask if the child t akes any medication on a regular basis, the mother says to me "well, I knew she was wheezing. I am a doctor and I could hear it. I put her on Amoxicillin yesterday" So I ask "well, do you know how much the baby weighs?" (They still base medication doses in pedi pts on the wgt-at least they did as of the otherday anyway) and the Mother (who was "supposedly" a doctor) says, "well, of course I don't know how much she weighs.........OIY!!!!! And then the guy with 2nd degree burns to 15% of his body because his fire wasn't going so he threw some gass on the alleged ignited rubbish and POOF! Up in smoke!

I liked the 17 yo boy who was at a skinny dippin party and was showing of on the diving board. On his way down his Johnson smacked the diving board

His friends called EMS over it

the medics were laughing so hard they could hardly get the radio report to us

Then we had to call his parents to get consent for treatment, that was interesting to say the least

23 yr old female comes in, c/o "When I let my arm hang down like this(demonstrates by sitting down and letting her arm dangle as she bends over) the veins get bigger. Do you think I'm having a stroke?"
