My MI by me

Specialties Emergency

Published

2 days ago about noon time, I was out buying Jewelry for my wife. I had the onset of chest pain radiating up into my neck and left arm. I took 5 325 mg aspirins and a couple of nitro I had , pain getting worse and diaphoretic. Drove straight to the hosp. I work at. Only a 5 minute drive. 30 minutes later I was in the cath lab having 2 stents put in. My RCA was totally occluded.

No wonder they are a Certified Cardiac Care Center. Stopped the MI before any damage was done. Top notch ER I work at.Now I am home typing this.

Cool huh.

ready to go golfing as soon as the Cath hole in my groin is ready

Tom - glad you are ok - I'd rather have the money for home renovation but to each (wife) their own (needs).

My own dad did the same thing - chest pain on the golf course though and finished 18 holes and then drove himself to the hospital. Had an LAD blockage - two bypasses.

steph

But the important question is 'What did he shoot on the course"

glad he is ok

Glad you're ok, Tom. I totally understand getting to the hospital the quickest way.

My DH had an MI this March. I drove him to the ER (10 minutes away, but I made it in 3. ;) )

He quit smoking with Chantix and is losing weight. Can't get him to golf, though. Prefers to fish.

Why not to drive oneself or love one even 5 mins to the hospital:

1) Traffic- yes on a good a day it takes 5 mins on a bad one i could take longer

2) Last time I checked you cant drive and do CPR on some or yourself for that matter

3) You loose conciousness, crash killing yourself and your children on the school bus you just ran off the road

4) That hospital 5 mins away may be in the middle of a disaster and now you can't get there, and you dont know it- the ambulance can communicate and get the air evac there to get you to the next hospital an hour away

I'm glad all is well but we all need to heed our own advise.

Yes, I agree. Although you got there safely...driving while under the influence of nitro and chest pain is NOT a good combo! Glad to here you're doing well.
