I am starting online RN-BSN via Chamberlain College of Nursing from July. Just wondering if any nurses out there who will be starting the program or in the program>

Any suggestion/idea is appreciated as it will be my first online program...........

Thank you!!!!

I agonized for a while (https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/rn-bsn-self-331667.html), because there are sooooo many programs! I made a spreadsheet of all the programs that interested me, and then started weeding them out. I came up with my top three and had my transcripts evaluated. Chamberlain was the best fit for my credits ... as you noticed, yes, Chamberlain is very expensive per-credit, but all the programs came out to nearly the same bottom-line price because the other schools required more classes. Coming in with 206 credits, I was happy to take a shorter road to BSN. :) Good luck in making your decision! I really enjoyed Chamberlain's program.

My state BON actually has programs listed that they approve as far as pre-licensure goes, even RN-BSN programs. I had thought about UOP, but I do not like group work and they are HUGE on group work. It's really hard to make a decsion. I have two brick and mortar programs I could go to if I'm accepted, but since I no longer have a reliable car right now I don't think I can commit to 1-2 times a week in class. I'm still working on that though.

The guy at Chamberlain I spoke to yesterday really did give a good sales speech though. I am glad that if I do apply, they will pay for all of my transcripts.

I've been reading this thread and have noticed how satisfied most of you are with the program. How did you decide which program to go to with all the choices out there?

Chamberlain's curriculum is the most reasonable. The other schools require more classes :uhoh3:...

I finished last week!

Lunah, your posts and replies helped me a lot :clown:. Thank you.

I went with chamberlain because, even though other schools are cheaper, chamberlain took all my credits. Out of the 14 classes required for the BSN, I have to take 10 classes. I figure it evens out in the end and I'll be done way faster than my co-workers who are going the traditional route.

You are most welcome! And congrats on finishing, that is great!! :)

RN122, I am into my 7th and 8th class and have not bought a book yet. Unless its a DeVry course and its automatically online for me. I am also taking EVP and Comm Health right now, wish you luck. So far I have had all A's and trying to keep the streak but as many know two classes and work can become difficult.

it's great to read all these posts. I'm considering Chamberlain for the RN-BSN, and just got off the phone w/an advisor. Congrats to those who go there and are doing so well!

I decided after next term I'm going to get the rest of DeVry's classes out of the way. Cult Div, Econ and then Intro to Humanities. I really enjoy Chamberlain's classes (currently in informatics), but feel like DeVry's really take a lot out of you. Their classes seem to be awfully time-consuming.

Hard work pays off though, got an A in stats! :w00t:

Good news! I talked to a Chamberlain representative today and they said their MSN program is now accredited by CCNE. The only thing that is kinda crappy is that if you do the bridge program (RN to BSN to MSN) you don't receive your BSN until your MSN is done.

Hi everyone,

I have enjoyed reading what I have of this thread and it is very helpful however I can't get through all 400 replies!:D

I need advice on starting with Chamberlain. I have yet to hear back from my advisor but just wanted to ask you all. I graduated a few years back but never really worked and ended up staying at home with my kids. They are very young, 2.5 and 1 yrs. I want to go back to school, online, and really would like to do some RN-MSN bridge because I'd loved one day to be a NP, once my kids are off at school. I'd like to work through school part time. Is this possible at Chamberlain? I just want a realistic outlook of whole going back to school is going to be with kids still so little (and demanding!). If anyone is in the same boat, I'd love to hear how it is working for you. And if anyone has any helpful info, I'd appreciate it.

Also... the homepage talks about an RN-MSN bridge that is actually more time efficient if you know you eventually want a masters. Is this what I would want? I know my advisor can answer some of this. Does it matter which advisor I use? I saw you all talking highly about one lady. I am waiting on a call back from Ryan.

Thank you so much!

Janice

I am currently in the first 8 weeks of the program. Overall I like it, just a ton of writing. I dislike having to wait to post stuff, as others have said in this thread. I ordered my books from Amazon so far, and they are cheaper. I didn't buy the APA book, instead i bought APA The Easy Way, it cuts through all the junk in the regular APA manual.

Cultural Diversity is pretty easy, just a decent amount of writing

For you experienced Chamerlainers:

I need help picking my classes for the next 2 8 week sessions. I'm really good with Statistics so it should be a breeze for me. I'm worried about the Summer A session. In Spring B I have Collaborative Health and several people in this thread have made it sound like the easiest class at Chamerlain. I'm thinking I should swap a Summer A class with Collaborative Health. Anybody have any suggestions for which? I know I will be overwhelmed either way, but I don't want to have an insane Summer A session with those 3 classes that haven't sounded too easy throughout this thread.

Spring B

MATH221 Statistics for Decision Making

NR361 Information Systems in Health Care

NR446 Collaborative Healthcare

Summer A

NR305 health assessment,

NR 443 community health nursing,

NR449 Evidence-based practice

Thanks for the advice.

So far I've taken one class at a time, but just finished Information Systems in Health Care, which is probably the easiest class I've ever taken. It has 3 very small papers in week 2-4-6 and discussion posts. THAT'S IT! I loved Stats. I dreaded it. I kicked and screamed, but in the end I got an A. It truly doesn't matter who your personal professor is as long as you watch the live lectures. The live lecturer spoon-feeds the material to you. If you take notes, and print out his hand-outs you will easily get an A. Stats had a final (no midterm) that was 3 hours in length and a bit tough - but again, if you pay attention you will do fine! I did spend A LOT of hours a week on stats - probably about 10-12, where with informatics I spent MAYBE 2. If that. I can't help you with the other classes - I haven't taken them yet - but good luck!

This May I'll be taking Health Assessment :)

Summer A: Cult Div

Summer B: Econ

Fall A: Intro to Humanities

And that takes me to the end of the year! Woo. I'll be done with all the DeVry classes by Christmas.
