Are the books NEEDED for the Evidenced-Based Practice Course and Collaborative Health course? I want to avoid purchasing them if I can. Thanks in advance!

Evidence Based class: Houser, J. (2008). Nursing research: Reading, using, and creating evidence. Sudbury, MA: Jones and Bartlett.

Collaborative class: Carroll, P. (2006). Nursing leadership and management: A practical guide.

Clifton Park, NY: Thompson Delmar Learning.

I used them both as references for the papers. I know there are assignments based on the book in Collaborative. I think you really need to get them. You can rent them if you don't want to buy them, or you can sell them if you do buy them.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Agree with AnaCatRN ... Chamberlain doesn't really list any books that are "optional."

You need them for the papers and if I remember correctly there are 3 quizzes in evidence based practice that you will need the book to prepare for. They may have changed the class but I know we had 3 online quizzes and you needed the book.

It's basically one big project in several parts (seven, I think). At the end, you have to create a power point presentation based on your project. You choose something in your practice that you'd like to see changed, research your proposed change, and create a plan for implementing and evaluating that change. It's a lot of work, but it's doable.

I finally finished and graduation is next Friday. I can't wait! Congrats to everyone who is graduating this term! Now on to grad school!

Same here. Doesn't it feel good? Congrats to you!:yeah:

I'm trying to decide between Chamberlain and a few other programs. Chamberlain seems a bit overpriced, but when I checked out one other program class requirements there were 12 nursing courses, plus several gen ed ones. IMO it would even out despite that schools lower cost per credit hour. I also have 2 local schools near me I can go to that are cheaper, but I don't have a reliable car right now.

I've been reading this thread and have noticed how satisfied most of you are with the program. How did you decide which program to go to with all the choices out there?
