i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

Specializes in Nephrology.

Thank you, Amy :D

Sunny, it's a CE course so it's not for a grade which I think eases a lot of the pressure. I will ask for the course number when I go in tomorrow. We were all talking today about what a great experience this is especially if you don't already work in a hospital. Maybe if I worked in a hospital it would be different but I felt like I knew nothing and just after 3 days I feel so much more confident in my decision to be a nurse. I am planning on taking this course each time it is offered. It's over winter break and summer break. It's an intense 6 days but you learn a lot.....

Shoot, I may have to fly home on breaks for this one if I go to my other progam.

Do you go all day for a week?

Specializes in ante/postpartum, baby RN.

My eCampus is updated. It looks like we have our orientation on Aug. 28, 9 AM to 1 PM. at ECC Room C131-132.

I've also bought my skill pac. It is as heavy as a book pac. Today I opened it and there were several full IV bags there. ;)

Ok.. I'm so overwhelmed with these drug cards!!!! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to learn these drugs?? I cut them out and pasted them in one of those index card spirals so that I can just flip through them, but I just don't know if I'm really learning it or not. Help... someone.... please!

My plan is to review and understand the big picture first (drug categories).

For example, today I started reading CNS depressants. I review each subcategories such as sedatives/hypnotics, general/locas anesthetics, analgesics, narcotic/nonnarcotic analgesics, anticonvulsants, antipsychotics, antidepressants. As I read about each subcategory I look for examples from the eCampus drug cards.

So, I review each category from the Kee pharma book and study the individual drug card that goes with it.

Does it help? :)

I would highly suggest categories first - then individual drugs - as well.

It is much easier to remember what certain classes or categories of drugs do and then memorize which drugs belong in which class than it is to try to memorize the details about each and every drug!

Also - if you look at the generic names of the drugs, they will often offer you a clue as to their class. For instance -

drugs ending in - pril = ace inhibitor

drugs ending in -sartan = ARB

Many are like that. It gets trickier when you have to remember both the generic and brand names.

I'm still waiting for some male to ask me if Boniva is better than Viagra LOL

....and drugs ending in -lol = beta blocker. :chuckle (See I have learned something already.) haha

So, Boniva....is that a drug that makes you 'v'ery bonita? :lol2:

Actually, I just looked it up on drugs.com: "Boniva slows bone loss while increasing bone mass, which may prevent bone fractures."

Oh man....in those words, I can see why a male would want Boniva, or at least get the two mixed up! :rotfl:

Ok... I think I will try that! I just didn't know where to start... Wish me luck!

I have a dumb question. I want to put a picture of me on my profile. I don't see an option for that. Is that only for premium members?

I'm not sure whether or not the profile pic option is only a premium perk. (I know the avatar is.)

Try this: Click on User CP above/left under the thread's links.

On the left side of that page, go down to where it says Control Panel. The last link on that section is Edit Profile Picture.

HELP! I have a question for you guys that are already accepted IN the program. I am wanting to transfer 1 course (general psych.) from a previous university to cover the PSYC 2301. In the info. sessions she said "just include an official transcript from previous school with photocopy of course description (s) from the previous school that you wish to transfer in your appication packet". Now I am reading that there is a transfer course evaulation where you must take previously mentioned things to the Heath Occ. Office and get them evaulated (takes 10-14 working days and could take up to 30 days). Did all you guys that transfered courses from another school do this transfer course evaulation or did you just include all in the info. packet? I couldn't find my info. packet and I just found it and that it what I read. I am about to go up there now with all this stuff but I am also aware that if it takes 30 days that I won't get it back in time to submit with application and wanted to know what everyone else has done.

How's it goin', everybody!?!? I figure its about time I get on this thing.

Allow myself to introduce... myself.

I'm Nolan Haggard and I'm your TNSA Vice President. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns about SNA as I feel that there is still a lot of wasted potential with the SNA programs, but it will take members to step up with suggestions to make a change. I look forward to that.
