i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

Yes, it's amazing how much time I can spend reading text books and still not finishing it for a test. It's also amazing how much weight I can gain in the meantime. :D

I can totally understand just from my A&P II and Micro last semester. My butt is getting as big as the chaise on the end of my sofa:lol2:. Right now I am feeling overwhelmed because I have so much I need to get done around my house in the next two weeks before school starts.:uhoh3:

Specializes in Operating Room.

I've gained so much weight in the last two years (from sitting on my butt studying all the time), I hate to see myself in another two years if I don't learn to balance studying and a good 20-minute daily workout.

When I started going back to school for nursing I was wearing a size 5. I've gone up....we'll just leave it as that. :trout:

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

Lol! I, too, have felt the spread. My jeans all hang weird, and I do not want to have to get new ones! Alas, I don't think I have a choice...unless I want to get arrested for public indecency!

Are jeans suppose to hang? Hmmmmm....I would explain mine as are glued to my body weird. :lol2:

Well, see...I like my clothes big. I'm not a fan of showing off my body. So, even when I was a size 2, I bought my jeans a size 7 or so. I even have a few pair of 12s. The problem is that I have long legs, so when I bought baggy jeans, I could by the regulars because they would hang low enough to be long enough, if that makes sense. Now that my jeans are fitting me, they are all too short!

I can identify with this one. :lol2:

OK Spring '06 students - any other advice besides how to "grow" in nursing school? I'm pretty sure I know how to do that part:lol2: . What have you all found to be your best way to take notes in lecture and also with the reading, how do you organize all those papers the instructors like to hand out:uhoh3:, and how do you manage your time with school/home/family? I went to the Keys to Success class; however, I am feeling a little overwhelmed and somewhat panicked by what I am in for.

From what I have read of you all it seems that most of you are at the NL campus. Anyone from EC?

Only Katie's at the NL campus....that I know of.

I agree with you, although I didn't take the Keys to Success class. I'm worried about being able to balance it all, learn enough, remember enough....etc.

Maybe I am posting too much. ;)

Anyway, I taped all my lectures and listened to them whenever I had time. I printed out the lecture outlines from eCampus and used them as the base to be filled out during lectures.

I have a big (2 inch) folder to hold all my papers for each semester. Although one was hardly enough for 1st semester.

For me the hardest days are the clinical days. After spending all day at the hospital I can't do anything useful at home. Seriously, I don't cook, clean, watch TV or study. I just try to fall asleep as soon as possible. :uhoh3:

I am wondering how others are handling clinical days?

Did you do the 12-hr shift? I figure after getting home that late, and being on my feet all day, the only think I'll do is last minute reviewing for the next day's lecture and/or exam. (If I don't know it by Tuesday night for Wednesday's exam, I probably wouldn't learn much more.)

12 hours days are going to be hard to adjust to. my sister works two 18 hour shifts back to back and that is just crazy!

I hope she isn't having to give any meds during those shifts, or make any life altering decisions!
