i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
I have a question for those of you who are working part time during the RN program. I know I will have to quit my full time job in Jan. (pending acceptance of course). I do plan on working part time but I am not sure how much to work with school. I guess I am kind of lucky since I have no life - I have no kids and no husband to take up my time. I was thinking maybe 2 days a week...preferably weekends. I need input from you guys who are already in the program and know what kind of study time is required, etc. Thanks in advance.

Hello Amy!
I had a very part time job when I was in my first semester. It was a little trying at times but it really wasn't that bad. In the end, I had a job to earn more money at while I was off from school which was very nice. I am still going to work very part time (2 days a week) during this 2nd semester and I am curious on how it will turn out. It's all up to what you think you can handle. The studying is intense and even though it says you're taking 9 hours, you will spend about 30 hours at the school each week and that is not including study time. It's strenuous and demanding but if I can handle it, anyone can !! It's only for 4 semesters and then it's all over so I just keep looking for that light at the end of the tunnel and pray it's not a train!! HAHAHAHA
I can't believe we go back to school next week. I am SO unprepared. I feel like I've just been vegetating all summer. I can't believe it's over already! Am I the only one who feels this way? All of you guys seems so revved up and ready to go.............I know it will change once I go back but right now I am really dreading Round 2!
Oh no. I'm no where near being prepared either!! I can't finish getting school supplies until next week and in the meantime I'm looking for an apartment closer to school and trying to sell my house. I'm feeling a lot of anxiety right now, but I'm sure it will all calm down as soon as I get settled in some where and school starts.

Hello GT Chick :)
Wow. You do have a lot on your plate. I wish you luck!!!
We will all get through this! I just need a little pick-me-up sometimes.
Thank you so much for your imput Allison! You made some very good points that I was already thinking about, such as having a job to earn more $$$ while being off school. Plus, I know me, if I don't have something to take up my time when I am not in school then I'll drive myself crazy!
P.S. I'm sure next week you'll have it all together just in time for school to start.

I have some useful drug info. if anyone is interested! I was reading through my Pharmacy Tech book and it has a chapter of the top 200 most commonly dispensed drugs in the US. The book is 2006 so this info. is very current. They are listed from most commonly dispensed to least commonly dispensed. The list includes generic name, trade name(s), class / use, and strength / form. I just thought this might be some helpful info. for our group. I don't know why I didn't think of sharing this info. sooner. I scanned the whole list (7 pages) into PDF files. If anyone would like this info. please send me an e-mail at [email protected] requesting drug info. and I will send them to you.

I know your are going to be fine, Allison. :balloons:
I try to focus on my positive thoughts and feeling about school so I will start the semester this way: . And I am really excited about OB.

The HESI test after 2nd semester sounds like a good idea. Don't you also have to take the HESI test after 3rd or 4th semester?
Amy
Have you all got a letter from ECC about the new fee?OMG, we have to take a HESI test at the end of 2nd semester. I was so happy to see that we can't 'fail' the test. It will just "identify content that we are weak in and that we need more study time on".
