i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.
my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)
Agreed. The syllabus was/is a waste of money. It's not anything special. The binding barely even stays together haha.I start at Parkland 0630 tomorrow! AAAAHHHH!!!! I hope I haven't forgotten everything. I am so afraid of that. I will be there for 6 days 0630-1530 M-S. I am very excited but at the same time I am very nervous. I am the only one coming from 1st semester in the group. Everyone else is 3rd or 4th!! AAAAAHHHH!!!! Hopefully they will still be willing to teach me stuff.
I hope everyone is having a great summer!!! I can't believe it's almost over....
Good luck girl... that is just an awesome opportunity!!!

I am having a great time at Parkland! It's only been 2 days but I feel this was the opportunity of a lifetime! If any of you have the chance to take Beecham's clincals, I HIGHLY recommend it. I am the only one coming from 1st semester but she is teaching me so much. I'm giving heparin and insulin injections left and right so it's almost natural and that's just in 2 days. She teaches extensive documentation. You get to do SO much more than what you do in the semester clinicals. She wastes no time and I love it! Nothing is for a grade which I think eases a lot of stress. NO CARE PLANS! :rotfl:
I REALLY REALLY REALLY recommend this clinical for anyone going from 1st to 2nd, especially, because she teaches you skills you won't get to see until 2nd. Everyone in my class is going to 3rd or 4th and they all wish they had taken it in the 1st to 2nd transition. The nurses are really great too and they're going to teach me how to give piggyback and start an IV. Parkland is really great too!!
She offers the course in the winter and summer. It's a little pricey but it's only been 2 days and it's been worth every penny.
I hope everyone is having a good summer!! :roll

I am so happy you are having a good clinical. I remember Ms. B. didn't waste time when we had the careplan class at EC. She is very energetic. :wink2:

Allision,
Glad to hear that you are having a great time! If I make it that far, I will surely take the class you are taking now.

Allison, is this a credit class? Can it be found in the regular schedule or the cont'd ed schedule? What is the course number?
Parkland is not pretty, but I always thought the training was top notch!
