i know some of us have received our letters so i was wondering who else i will be making this journey with for the next 2 years.

my name is allison shaffer and it's nice to meet you. i know we will all be close because it's a small group. it would be nice to get to know some of you before november 17. :)

I need some advice from you guys that have already take Micro. Initially I wanted to take Micro this fall so I could have it out of the way. Then I decided take it next summer since I will be working only part time and since my schedule was so tight last semester with A&P 2 and another class with my work schedule. I am now considering going ahead with Micro this fall since I still have time to re-arrange my school schedule. Does Micro require as much or more study time as A&P? Is Micro harder or easier than A&P? Has anyone taken Micro with G. Chandler at EC? Thanks in advance.

Amy

Do either of you know if the pharm cards for this semester are available?

I don't have anything new, yet. Good luck with your nurse tech position.

It depends on how good your A&P classes were. Micro is mostly review for me because we covered a lot during A&P. Micro lab is fun we 'play with microscopes' a lot. :) I am taking it at NLC.

Specializes in Psychiatry.

Hey...I must have had a crappy instructor for A&P because Micro is kicking my tail! I am going to take my B and run with it! But I knew it was going to be hard in an 8 week course to begin with. I will agree with Katie, we are having a blast in lab though.

Kendra

Specializes in Operating Room.

I made an A, but barely! I took mine as an 8 week MayMester course at Mountain View. (In fact a guy I sat by in there got accepted for Fall '06 ...that was funny running into him at orientation. I had no idea.) :D

Anyway.....

MicroSUX! 'nuff said. :chuckle

I took Micro and A&P 2 at the same time.... I had A&P 2 online though. I think that Micro requires a little more time than A&P. I've never been good with microscopes, so it was challenging for me. I had a really tough instructor for Micro too.

I am in Micro right now and it is with Chandler at EC. It ends on Thursday thank goodness. Anyways she really is a good teacher. She explains things in ways you can understand. It requires tons of study time but that could be because I am taking it in the summer. I have only taken A&P I and II and Micro in the summer so not sure how they would be in the normal semester. Good luck!!

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

Congrats, Brianna! That's really exciting :)

I'm torn about the Micro thing, too. Part of me just wants to get it out of the way...but part of me wants a semester break...but another part of me says that I should keep the study habits...lol

Those of you that started in the Spring -- when did clinicals start during the first semester? I tried to go back through this thread and find it, but 92 pages is a lot of info!!

Clinicals started at ECC during week 7/8. Week 7 was when we had our orientation and the next day after that was when we followed a nurse around and officially we picked out our own pts during week 8.

Thanks! My family is trying to plan a family trip during the 3rd week of school, and I wasn't sure if I would be able to go (granted I get in, of course). I'm still not sure if I will, but it is nice to know I won't miss the start of clinicals if I do go. Thanks again for the info :)

Missing a week of school will mean missing about a 5 hour lecture & 3-4 skills labs.
