El Centro Spring 2015

Published

Hi all,

I am starting a tread for all the students that will be applying for spring 2015 ADN program at El Centro. Please join and give any info that you might have. I want to be successful as well as everyone else trying to apply.

How do you sign up for the course ? I'm scheduled to take the HESI on March 29

I signed up online under continuing education or you can call the school

Hello, can anybody tell me how to sign up for the HESI? I created an account at https://evolve.elsevier.com/ but don't know how to proceed from there. I don't even see a calendar. Is it under distance exam? Also if I take my physical now will it be too early, or is the physical covered up to a year?

I am finishing my Army contract this summer and hope to get accepted into the spring 2015 program at either El Centro or Northlake. I am so confused with the whole point system and HESI test. Any advice for this future male nursing student?

Tell us what has you stumped and we will do our best to help! If you haven't looked at the application, I suggest it, it will help with understanding the point system and with getting a jump on what is needed to apply. .

Just FYI...I've had several friends that say the Hesi prep course is a waste of time and money. Basically the teacher hands out a practice test, then gives you the answers, but doesn't even explain anything.

Hi - I just started looking at El Centro's ADN program today. I didn't realize that nursing students could go to Northlake, is that true? Am I understanding correctly? I wish I had known sooner, and I could have applied for the Spring. I think their website is a bit hard to understand. I am applying to NCTC for the Fall, and if I don't get in there I will probably apply for El Centro's - Northlake campus for the spring.

So what is the magical number on the point system that gets a person in? I know it varies for a lot of colleges. I am still trying to figure it out in case I need to apply there!

Also, does one need chemistry? I couldn't find it on the course list, but I could have missed it. I have an intro chemistry from 15 years ago.

Thanks!

Its true, they accept 120 students, half go to El Centro and half to Northlake. The cut off for Spring was 27 points. Also chemistry is only needed if you are going to continue on and get your bachelors. It does count for a point, but its general chemistry (CHEM 1411) not intro (1405). Sciences have a 5 year limit, so in this case it won't matter, you'd have to retake it.

Has anyone taken the 2 hprs? (1202&1204) what' re these classes like? Can one take both of them in the summer, since it worth 5 credits? I'm planning to take it during summer. Any input? Thank y'all.

I took both during the Winter mini semester. Both are very doable. The only time consuming part to HPRS 1202 is the volunteer hours you must do. HPRS 1204 is easy as long as you practice the check offs and do the quizzes and tests on time. When you get a partner/s in class (HPRS 1204), try to stick with them... it makes it easier as well. Good luck!
