Don't go off of what the schedule says, you should get a finalized schedule when the semester begins. Skills lab hours will be all over the place. Anywhere from 2-3 days a week for 5 hours, or up to 8 hours long. You'll have to be very flexible, the days aren't very consistent.

Your first week of classes is all orientation, you will meet all your teachers, talk about the syllabus, class assignments and anything and everything. You also meet with the Elsevier people and they help you upload all your ebooks.

Not dumb at all :) Happy to answer...The uniform brand is Landau, guys get the black drawstring pants and a blue V-neck top; the girls have a blue button down top and black elastic waist tapered pants with the with a crease (sorry, they are terrible!!) Shoes need to be all black, but a logo on it thats a different color is usually ok, but you can always double check with the Dean if you have any questions if its acceptable.

Congrats to everyone who got in! I'm in first semester at Northlake right now and it is quite the ride. What everyone has said about it being unorganized is true! You guys will sign up for Clinicals at Orientation and that will determine what days you have Skills Labs, but it's typically 2 days a week about 6 hours long. There's a few days that you have to come all day from 8-5. Lecture and 2 other classes happen all on one day every week from 9-2 pm. For example, this has been my typical schedule: Monday Skills 8-1:15 Tuesday Clinical 6:30-5 pm Wed Lecture 9-2 pm Thurs Skills 8-:1:15 Friday: OFF!!! :) Some of my classmates have Skills on Fri and Sat but you won't know be able to really know your schedule until the first week or so. There's also been a very high amount of turnover with teachers, many retiring/leaving at the end of this semester, so just a heads up, it will be a roller coaster in the beginning. El Centro won't count Dance for Art Appreciation, the name and course number has to be an exact match for it to count.

I had started my shots and wouldn't get the 2nd dose in time when applications were due, so I freaked out, and ended up getting Titers done at Any Lab Test Now and had my results emailed to me in 3 days. I highly recommend them.

I tried to take that same class, lol, I dropped. What was I thinking trying to take CHEM online? So kudos to you for sticking through it so far. If your focus is getting into the nursing program as soon as you can, I'd say tough it out and even if you just barely pass, you will still get that extra point. That extra point that you have can be comforting to know while you are waiting for your acceptance letter. For me, I honestly didn't try so hard when trying to get any extra BSN classes done, that probably doesn't sound great. I was after just getting extra points. I really put minimal effort in them, saving all my energy for nursing school. If you have done really well in your classes so far, one bad grade may not affect your GPA as much as you think. Also, if you think dropping a class looks bad on your transcript, don't worry about, I have dropped a ton of classes (I am also exempt to the 6 limit dropping rule) but I was able to make it in to the program. Good luck to you, you will make the right decision whichever way you decide to go.

If you've only attended DCCCD, you won't need to include any transcripts. :)

No problem :) I have done 1204. Its a great class and I really enjoyed taking it, especially if you don't have any previous healthcare background. You have to do 3 check offs with hand washing, vital signs and physical assessment. Keep checking for 1202, I didn't get in, but got lucky one day and saw someone had dropped and I was able to get in

I am so frustrated trying to register, anyone else experiencing a possible glitch on the DCCCD E-connect website? It is telling me I have no TSI status and 15 hrs of ESOL and to see an advisor. I am not sure why I would need 15 hrs of ESOL now when I've already finished all my english requirements. I just want to sign up for my classes. Ok rant over lol

Tomorrow, April 22! Sometimes they open registration before 8 am, so be ready. If not, keep checking back, since people will drop. I got lucky and grabbed a spot that way last semester.

I took it online and I think its online available that way. You will still need to do the 15 hrs of volunteer work. You'll log your hours on a sheet, and scan it in. The class is very easy...its pretty much a "don't do drugs, be healthy, wear condoms" kind of class. I suggest that if you know you are taking it, go ahead and start looking for a place to volunteer at since many places require you attend an orientation or training session before volunteering, and many places do not respond at all. Minnie's Pantry in Plano is where I did all my hours and they are always in need of volunteers. Hope this helps!

I didn't remember much from AP1 and didn't pay much attention due to a crappy teacher in AP2, so I watched Youtube videos like crazy to review for Hesi. There is a professor who posts all his Anatomy lectures and he was actually interesting, I think his name was Professor Fink? I'll double check. I learned more about AP in the 2 weeks of cramming then I did the whole semester.

I was really nervous about the HESI, but it really is not bad at all, and wasn't as nerve racking as I thought it would be. Get a few HESI review books, and take as many practice tests as you can.
