You are right . . . I spoke out of anger from family's comments about the pt receiving suboptimal care because he is black. Nursing is both rewarding as well as extremely difficult, especially when you deliver the best care you can only to be slapped in the face with something as stupid as "because he was _____ (you fill in the blank), you didn't care for him".

Given the history of how blacks and other minorities have treated in the US for generations, I don't begrudge them a little paranoia.

Let's not forget about propaganda now spreading the nasty lie about immigrants from the south bringing Ebola to the US. Our country may be better off knowledge and resource wise to deal with this but we still have a lot of DUMB politicians who will make our job as healthcare workers much harder.

I just read that... and right now I've been seeing references to a breach in proper protocol during PPE removal. If that's true, then we all must revisit the proper procedure and do it the right way every time. If everything was followed exactly...

Oh why did I read the comments? "It's Obama's fault. It's the liberal's fault. The government/CDC is lying. It's a lie that it's 'hard to get' otherwise how do people keep getting it? We need to close the borders. It's going to mutate and go airborne."

So many things wrong with all of this. It's amazing how distrustful people are of the government, but believe they can pull off all these elaborate schemes. The Ebola Truthers people. Hopefully they won't get as bad as the Sandy Hook Truthers and the Stevie Wonder Can See People.

The sad truth is that we have a large percentage of uneducated, ill informed Americans that will believe whatever the right wing (or the far left) will spew. We even have a dumb senator recently state that we captured 10 ISIS fighter on the border with Mexico. No basis in reality whatsoever, let's see how long until they blame immigrants at the souther border for bringing Ebola to the U.S.

The largest recorded ebolavirus outbreak to date began in March 2014, with initial cases reported in Guinea and then additional cases identified in the surrounding regions (Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria). A new strain of the ZEBOV species [Zaire ebola strain] was identified as the causative agent of the outbreak.

Viral hemorrhagic fevers have an infectious dose of 1 - 10 organisms by aerosol in non-human primates.
That's not a lot of virus necessary to infect another human host.
