Duke ABSN Fall 2011

Hi all!

I know its early and the application isn't due until December 1st, but I was wondering if there was anyone else out there applying to the Duke ABSN program to start in August of 2011! I've already read through some of the previous semesters' threads and it seems like a great outlet for discussion/ questions/ nerves!

Let me know :)

nikki164-- Orientation is June 1st-3rd and then we start right after that! I'll def let you know what I think..one of my best friends is in it now and she absolutely loves it so I'm hopeful, haha

For those of us second rounders, does anyone know if this affects our financial aid?

If we are given admission, will the scholarships still be available? I don't remember anything about this during Duke Days

She told me that second rounders that get accepted are still able to get financial aid assistance. However, I do not know if we would get the full assistance that we would be eligible for. I wish that we could know what number we are on the second round rankings.

I think that eventually we'll know our ranking. I remember reading threads from last year that some people posted and by the time they were admitted they knew their ranking. Hopefully we'll know ours soon. The waiting sucks though!!

I want to email for more info but don't want to harass anyone!

I guess all we can do is hope for the best.

I wonder how many people from round two were admitted last year....

does anyone know if the last group of second rounders were notified all at once or as spaces opened up...hadn't even thought about the second round to get in and then get second round money...

Hi! This is the first time that they have had a second round because of the large number of applicants. The way that it has gone in the past was that Duke sent out acceptances and then put people on the waitlist. Then around April the 8th, the people on the waitlist found out if they were accepted or still on the waitlist. A Positive note was that the past two semesters everyone that was left on the waitlist was eventually given an acceptance notification. I hope that still holds true. I might ask her on Monday if we will know our second round rankings. I don't want to seem like I am emailing her every couple of days lol.

I do remember them saying that this year they had 400 applicants versus the normal 200. Wrong time to go into the field, way too many qualified people with the same idea....I guess great minds think alike!

She told me that this was the first year that they have done second rounds. In the previous years they have only had 200 applicants, 125-140 interviewed, 115 acceptances sent out and the rest is waitlisted. She said that the previous years they have gone through the waitlist. She said on Duke Days that they would send out only 80-85 acceptances. Then those that they were interested in were put in the second round.

Hopefully this year will be like the previous years and we will be accepted:)

I was told that April 1st we find out the ranking and on April 5th we learn whether our spot was given acceptance. I am really worried about financial aid for Duke second rounders. I think I may just put my money down for Columbia and then see what Duke does.
