One of my family members is being treated at Parkland. Another family member (also a nurse) was there with her and found that the other patient in the room (it was a semi-private room) had her IV lines hanging down onto the floor. When she asked the charge nurse to prevent the IV lines from dragging on the floor (for infection control obviously), the charge nurse informed her that it was OK for the lines to drag on the floor and refused to adjust them. Is this the type of nursing that I should expect at Parkland? Does Parkland have any sort of nursing practice guidelines that conflict with this?

Anyone get a packet in the mail yet? I figure we will need to start getting the CPR, immunizations, etc, etc tackled pretty quickly since we start in May?

Kayce - not everyone who was admitted to the Spring 2011 class found out on the same day. It seems like UTLink was updated in waves... so, keep checking! It might be tomorrow before your status changes, but having more holds is a great sign!

Thanks Brandig07! - I just talked to the school. I got into the accelerated May program! My status says accepted for "BSN IN GENERIC NURSING" for the Summer 2011 term, but it is for the accelerated May program!

Thanks Brandig07! That's interesting - I knew that MOST of the classes were now in-person (just like the Generic program), but I too thought that at least a couple of the classes were online. I applied to the accelerated program, but I checked the "please consider me for the fall program if I don't get into accelerated" option. But it sounds like my acceptance is for accelerated!

I see that same admissions information for both the "Summer 2011" and the "Fall 2011" drop down on the Admissions page.

me too! it says this... BSN IN GENERIC NURSING You have been granted provisional admission. Admission letter in the mail. It definitely said Accelerated BSN in Nursing last night. Does this mean I'm in the Fall class or the May class?

Hopefully we will know more tomorrow. Last semester many people saw their holds change the day before their admissions status did!

Anyone have any information on how new grads from UT are faring with finding jobs in the med center after graduation? Specifically in the ICUs and ERs?
