Hi all!
I know its early and the application isn't due until December 1st, but I was wondering if there was anyone else out there applying to the Duke ABSN program to start in August of 2011! I've already read through some of the previous semesters' threads and it seems like a great outlet for discussion/ questions/ nerves!
Let me know :)
VandyMeg- I feel the exact same way! Duke is my number one so I've got to start finishing up applications to the other schools I've applied to now that I'm a secondary consideration for Duke. I took the 2nd round decision pretty hard this morning, but I'm still praying that something will work out.
Maybe if more people decline before their April 1st deadline we'll be pulled out individually as space permits? I did talk to "her" about it, but chances that'll happen are pretty slim.
I think they were sending out like 80 offers of acceptance today and are aiming for a class size of 72 from what I remember from Duke Days. Did anyone actually get rejected or did they just place everyone else in the second round? I really wish they would tell us the rankings because it would just be nice to know where we stood and if we need to look into other options, etc. I only applied to Duke because it truly is the only place I want to go so this is really hard for me. The next month and a half of waiting is going to be painful!
If they sent out 80 acceptances and hope for a class of 72, then I guess the chances of us second rounders getting in is slim?
Well all we can do it wait- I'm sad that I'm not in the first round but worse things have happened and life goes on. Like Norma said many roads lead to the same destination and perhaps things do happen for a reason. That's the way I live my life and that's the way I'll see this little obstacle (although I am sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, and a little depressed this morning- I'll let myself feel these emotions today, then tomorrow moving on!)
good luck everyone~:)
I got accepted, but I cannot believe how many are second rounders.... I know during Duke Days they said they were going to issue ~80-85 acceptances first round, but maybe it was less??
Good luck to everyone in the second round- I hope you all get what you want- and congrats to everyone who was accepted!
hey everyone,
i was pretty bummed when i read that i was going to be in the second round...and then i come here and i'm shocked that pretty much all of us received that same fate! this is not what i expected, especially when previous cohorts on this site mostly received 'yes' the first time. i know how difficult it must have been for the committee with such a large applicant pool, and this is normally what happens when the pool is so large...some good people end up being lost. now on to the positive...there is always a blessing in the storm, and that blessing is that we weren't completely rejected today...there's still a chance!!! hopefully most people applied to more than one program (unlike me) and will decline the offer (and judging by previous threads on here, financing seems to be a major hurdle). i must now activate plan b, which is applying to other programs and looking for a job if i must start in the spring (2012).
since my birthday is april 5th (a sign maybe?!?!), you already know what my wish is...that everyone on here will receive good news. this thread and the support therein has been amazing. keep smiling, and telling yourselves how great you are...second round, maybe, but never second best!
Good morning, ladies ( and gentlemen if you're out there.) Congratulations to everyone that was accepted! I woke up to good news this morning as well. To those of you in the second round, I feel for you. More waiting = no fun. I'll be thinking of you and hoping that everything works out in your favor. :)

Hello VandyMeg! I believe that some people were rejected. I read AngielajolieFSU's post and she said that there were some people rejected.
