drug testing for nursing school

Published

I was curious as to when I might be tested. I have orientation to discuss the overall program August 8. I am in the cep program where I will do clinicals at a community college which doesn't start until January but will take online classes at a university called Asu that starts August 16. So I wanna know if I will be tested at orientation or soon after or maybe not until clinicals start

When I taught, we tested during orientation. If your clinical site requires drug testing- it is possible you will be tested again.

My general advice for people is to stop using drugs the moment you decide you want to be a nurse.

This is orientation for the overall program because clinicals won't start until January so that's why I wouldn't think they would test me yet but idk

Why is this even a dilemma for you? Once you decided to go to nursing school STOP TAKING DRUGS. Problem solved.

If trying to decide when is the last possible day you can stop and pass the drug screen, you have a problem and shouldn't go into nursing. Take a look at the Recovery Forum on this site and read all the stories about nurses that have to pay a lot of money for frequent drug tests and have stipulations on their license for years or suspended licence, all because of drugs (including marijuana).

I was tested during orientation, and then I was tested again when I used a Dr. affiliated with the school (wooo cheap Dr. visits!), and I expect to be tested again throughout the program.

You can be tested at.any.time.

Here in tucson, our CEP program tests on orientation day and if you don't pass, you are quietly removed from class that afternoon.

Ok, take your chances then. Just don't be surprised if they drug test you during orientation and you're kicked out of the program before you start for popping positive.

We were drug tested as part of the admissions process before the first semester even started. It takes so much dedication and hard work to, not only get into nursing school, but also get through it. Why risk it all!?

Don't worry about it. Enjoy yourself before all the stress of nursing school. You deserve it!
