A lot of people last semester were copying and pasting off here:

Or purchasing the pre-printed cards and typing off them.

Do you have Davis's Drug Guide? It comes with a CD. You can cut/paste from that into Word. I think I'll check out nursespdr.com myself as the other poster advised.

My cards are posted here, along with a bunch of other files:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/allnursesstudents/

They are in Word format so they are editable if anyone wants to use them. Why reinvent the wheel?

Specializes in cardiac/education.

I really, really, really want to browse the drug cards on this site, but I can't get in!! I registered thru Yahoo, but I cannot click on "files". Can anyone help???:uhoh3:

You guys can copy/paste?? We were told pretty emphatically that our cards were to be in our own words as much as humanly possible, and that they didn't want to see anything that they could pick out of a Med Deck. Had one clinical instructor give us an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper with the usual requests for information, but worded such that we had to complete a question/answer format. She also wanted us to explain why our patient was on this medication and at this dosage, and whether it was helping or not. Wanted to know if the lab values would be affected or if VS would be affected, why or why not. There was also an accompanying page you needed to write to explain the pathophysiology of the disease in terms that the patient's family could understand--layman's terms. No shortcuts here!

I then had my next clinical instructor get wind of that system and had us do it for her clinicals, too :crying2: On the other hand, I learned a WHOLE LOT about the diseases and their treatments!!

Did you ever get in? You probably have to register with Yahoo, but you also have to join each individual group that you are interested in (click the blue "Join this Group" button on the right hand side of the page at: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/allnursesstudents/). Then the moderator will approve you.

A little piece of advice for those who will be doing drug cards, start doing them BEFORE you start your clinicals. I was up until 3 am the other night doing med cards and textbook pictures of my patient's diagnoses. I was so afraid that I would oversleep and miss clinicals after that that I couldnt go to sleep! Aaahhhh! Clinicals after no sleep!!!! Mosby's Top 200 drugs is a good place to start. I have about 50 of them now, but you can bet I'm working on getting them all done now because I do not want another night like I just had! :chuckle

We bought our drug cards and our instructors let us hand those in. She just put a small red check mark in the corner so that she knew we had already used that one. We had to do 3 for each careplan and had to do different drugs with each one.
