Has anyone applied for this program for fall 2009? If so have you got accepted yet or are you still waiting? Have you completed all your prereq's?

hi everyone..happy holidays!!! i dont think theres going to be an increase on loan availability..but it was great thought! lol

does anyone know of any NON credit based educational loans - applied with Wells Fargo, and they said i needed a co-signer...so i need other options fast... thanks!

I applied through wells fargo,

co-signer was not required as long as you met a threshold of earning 12k in a year...

Other than Stafford, I think they're all credit based. No way to get a cosignor? My dad cosigned on a loan for me when I was in school the first time. I guess I'd just hit every lender up to see who might be more lenient. Maybe Sallie Mae? I got loans through Chela once, and they have TERRIBLE terms, and you could also try student loan network, pnc has a health care loan and they might take your future career in to consideration....

Good luck!

thats not accurate.....i make more than 12K per annum...salary was not the issue...

hiddencat, thanks!

I'm not sure on "Your" Loan.. my reply was specific to my loan.. that a co-signer was not needed for anyone making 12k or more.

Thanks.

hello justcause... i initially asked if anyone knew of non credit based loans...(and explained about wells fargo and needing a co-signer)....your response was:

co-signer was not required as long as you met a threshold of earning 12k in a year...

again, thats false.....it appears that your belief is that if you make over 12k per year, then co-signor is not needed....again, thats inaccurate....they take other variables into account..its not based solely on earnings....not trying to be stickler, but again my question was if anyone knew of non-credit based loans....nothing more....

hidden cat thanks for the information/positive response....i checked out chela...and PNC...

I got a PNC medical student loan. I don't know if it was credit based or not. From what they tell me (seems odd), the loan rate is 2.5-2.75(without cosigner)% + some weird term (London something or other rate). So, right now (or when I called) it was like 2.5-2.75+ about 2.5 (so 5-5.25% interest). No "disbursement fee". The rates seem odd (low), and I've only heard them talk about it over the phone, haven't seen it in print. The -.25% is with a cosigner.

hmmm...rates seem very low...how long ago did you obtain your loan?

I faxed my signed notice just under 2 weeks ago. It's been approved. Like I said, I haven't SEEN the rates. Just had 2 or 3 people say the same thing each time I called. Seems fishy, but I sorta trust PNC. My paperwork from Drexel's Financial Aid arrived today, and it says I have nothing to do now (unless they let me know). Yay! Less stress!

oh thats great loner...happy for you!!! i would trust PNC as well!! i sent you a private email too....

Loner,

Mine is the same - most private loans are variable based off the prime interest rate or BBA LIBOR ( stands for the London Interbank Offered Rate) interest rate + a given rate.

Example: today the prime 3.25%, last year it was 7.25%

You would add your banks % to this rate to get the rate you 'feel'.

A lot of loans will have a max % rate as part of the contract as well..

Hello All!!!

I applied for Fall 2009, as well, and I received my acceptance letter on November 6th! So, if you haven't heard any word yet, it will be coming soon!

Hi Tina,

I think we'll be in class together, I'm supposed to send the deposit to hold my spot, by ~ Jan 15th. I'm a bit concerned they have a high attrition rate.. Lots to think about..

Perhaps I'll see you in class :).
