Drexel ACE Program??
k8dubcoran, Not sure if you still check the email this will go to. Thank you for all of your posts on this website, they have been helpful. I have four questions, I'm hoping you can perhaps answer.. I was accepted for ACE for fall 2009, and I'm worried about the course load, I've never taken 21-units at once.. Did you feel the program was organized enough, that it was (tough) but do-able..? I've heard a lot of students drop out, do you think it's because the load is too heave/ or because they can't pass the class..? It's such a huge financial investment, I want to be sure I'm chosing the best prgm for me.. As for exams, do you feel that all instructors give fair exams.. (do you get class avg's after exams)? Lastly, about GPA during the program, do you think most people were able to graduate with over a 3.0 GPA, or does it seem like most barely pass their classes? (I'm asking b/c I want to eventually apply to a master's program, most of the ones I'm interested in, require at least a 3.2 undergrad GPA -hence I'd have to do at least that well during the ACE program). Thanks so much for you time and help, I REALLy appeciate it.

Drexel ACE Program
Nothing concrete in terms of #'s, someone I know in the prgm said they had lost about 1/3 of their class by the last quarter. I will be contacting the school next week to get specifics on attrition rates. I'll also be going to the OPEN HOUSE in January to get more info about that. For me, a decision comes down to whether a school's program is a good fit or not, and that's what I hope to find out before I send my deposit in.. Not sure if a bit longer program may best suit my lifestyle, stay tuned.. :) PS. Sorry if my previous posted concern, may have caused some stress.. I think the best thing to do is get more specific information from Drexel.

Drexel ACE Program
Hi Tina, I think we'll be in class together, I'm supposed to send the deposit to hold my spot, by ~ Jan 15th. I'm a bit concerned they have a high attrition rate.. Lots to think about.. Perhaps I'll see you in class :). Virginia from Bucks County

Villanova BSN Express
Apoptotic, I too hav 3 prereqs to do for Villanova.. I'll be doing a 3-unit accelerated course for Dev Psych in the winter (not looking forward to that), and will be taking A&P II and a religion course in the spring (unless I don't hear back good news, then I'll only take A&P II in the spring). Take care. PS When I hear something from Villanova, I'll post it (lets hope it's good).

2nd Degree Accelerated BSN at Pittsburgh or Drexel?
I totally understand. It's frustrating, as I too am a much better and stronger student. When I asked that same question of the lady at Upitt, she said they had so many applicants that had well-above 3.0 GPA's that they didn't really have to consider anything below that.. Sounds jerky, I know, but that's what she said.. I'm a firm believer in that things happen for a reason, and in this case, perhaps Upitt was not the best place for me.

I applied to Drexel, UPitt, and Villanova (hoping for Villanova).. I've only heard from UPitt, who sent my rejection letter to my parents in CA (PS I live in Bucks County)..lol.. Apparently UPitt didn't care that I had 70-units of POSTBACC upper division science coursework with a 4.0 GPA in that courswork. The lady I spoke with, the director, apperently said they focus on undergrad GPA which was just shy of the 3.0. PS I was a science major.

Villanova BSN Express
Honestly, I felt really nervous during the interview and she actually asked me several questions. She asked questions about why I moved from CA to PA, and about my current job, what I did at my current job, etc. She asked very general things, nothing uncomforable like scrutiny.. :). However, I was really nervous, and when I get nervous my voice gets weird and I blush.. (awe...) .. lol.. that's what worries me I guess.. The funny thing here is, that I'm generally very outgoing and not-weirdish like I felt during MOST of the interview (lol).. I guess it's b/c I REALLY like Villanova, so I think that I may have come across like a freak.. ..lol.. I must say though, she was super nice from start to finish..thankfully. She also asked one healthcare question. She asked me to discuss one difficulty, that I foresaw that nurses might face in the future. Toward the end she explained the curriculum. And like you, I too asked lots of questions about the curriculum and the program (and didn't feel as shy..but it wasn't until the last part of the interview..). And, at the very end of the interview I actually felt like she gave me a green light..or hint about acceptance.. However, wait time for a response has sort of made me think the news might be bad though.. BUT, hearing how/ why you got your answer early, gives me some hope..so thanks for hope..! (cheers to keeping hope alive!)

Drexel University ACE Program
I'm not orginally from Phila, but moved here a year ago, since you just graduated from ACE, can you tell me what the avg -starting- salary is for BSN graduates? Since I don't know other nurses here, I searched the internet and the ranges seem very broad.. Does pay depend on what area of the hopsital one works in..? PS I've applied to 4 prgms for fall 2009. Thanx!

Thanx -so- much for your words, they mean a lot to me.. I guess I'm just getting a little worked-up about not knowing/ the suspense.. It's exciting but nerve racking too.. :) I applied to four schools and have only heard back from one (bad news from UPitt) who instead of sending -me- a rejection letter, sent it to my parents in CA..! ..lol.. PS I live in Bucks County, PA.. :). So I have three schools to wait for, AND a whole lot of suspense.. Stay tuned.. :)

Villanova BSN Express
Hello. I think you and I must have interviewed on the same day for the Villanova BSNExpress program. I was there on Nov. 4th, I interviewed right after I voted :). Do you remember who you interviewed with..? I was really nervous, and I've not heard back.. They said I would hear back by mid-December.. I guess I'm especially worried because my current job is becoming too unbearable.. If I hear back, at least I know I'll suffer for only a few more months.. :)

I also applied to Drexel's ACE prgm for Fall 2009 & have not heard back.. I sent my application in mid-September and have not hear a final decision, although they did confirm they had my completed application.. When did you send your fall 2009 application..?
