Drexel ACE Program

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi,

Has anyone applied for this program for fall 2009? If so have you got accepted yet or are you still waiting? Have you completed all your prereq's?

Bryana

It took them a long time to complete my application, and I had to have transcripts resent, even though I think they had probably already arrived. Can you have your school call them? I had one of my schools do this and they had my transcript when speaking to another school official.

You also might want to call- maybe they have another school in your file by mistake?

Specializes in Float Pool, acute care, management/leadership.

I got my provisional acceptance today for the fall cohort! I can't be more excited, yet terrified at the same time. There is like a huge conglomeration of feelings running through me right now. I really didn't think I was going to get in...

Congratulations j450n! I'll look forward to meeting you next Fall!

Just out of curiousity, how many of you are out-of-state, and what are you doing for housing?

Thank you! Likewise, hopefully we'll be able to persevere through this program together along with other acceptees on here.

Congratulations to everyone with their provisional acceptances! I look forward to meeting everyone in the fall! :D

I received my transcript review sheet back and they accepted all of my classes..the only thing missing is 78 credits worth of classes (I'm assuming I have enough since I will be graduating in May)...I also sent in my $500 deposit just the other day but I don't know when I should start applying for loans. As for housing, I really wanted to live somewhere near the school, however that probably would not benefit me much especially if our clinical sites were gonna be all over the place. So to save alot of money, I'm gonna stay at home with family.

I'm waiting to apply for loans until after I've filed FAFSA in January. I think we could apply before that, but I want to make sure I can get the full $12,500 in federal loans (and who knows, maybe they'll raise the max amount given the state of the private loan industry). I anticipate having to apply with several lenders since my credit is not great (although I do have a cosignor).

You should look in to University City. Safe, pretty, good access to public transportation, affordable. I've been living here for over a year and it's my favorite part of Philly.

hidden,

for the 09/10 school year we have to wait until 1 January to fill out the FAFSA.

btw - from everyone I talk to the loans have all been the same unless by some miracle you get a grant.

I had an extremely low income for my FAFSA and it didn't affect anything.

Congrats j450n! (and everyone else accepted!) It looks like they lost one of my transcripts, so I had it resent last week. *crosses fingers*

As far as housing goes, I'm from California and I've never been to Philly. I'll probably look for something pretty close to school and rent with other students maybe?

I've never applied for student loans before...is there a deadline for the FAFSA? What's the turnaround time on getting a $ amount?

elora,

FAFSA for the 09/10 school year is available 1JAN....

I have seen several previous posters (and myself) and the amount of authorized loans has been the same... as we are all 5th year undergrads.. and I have seen no grants.

2,750 stafford subsidized

3,500 stafford unsubsidized

25,545 authorized for you to get through private loans

--------

these amounts are for 2 of 4 quarters... so since I'm a spring start, after I do my 09/10 FAFSA the likely scenario is I get the exact same values approved for my last 2 quarters.

I know, I know- that's totally wishful thinking on my part that they will increase the loan limits. But who knows? They have already extended unemployment TWICE in 4 months. Maybe they will shower students with money next. We must be on that bailout list somewhere.

Good point!!! Give us money!!!

Hidden, lol - i hope loan limits are not increased.. they are purely based off the cost of the program and expected costs associated ie room and board... any more increase just gives us more rope to.... well pull out more money to owe more. ;)
