Hi,
Has anyone applied for this program for fall 2009? If so have you got accepted yet or are you still waiting? Have you completed all your prereq's?

colorful, may i ask what data you have for an 'attrition' rate at drexel's aBSN program? Thanks~
Nothing concrete in terms of #'s, someone I know in the prgm said they had lost about 1/3 of their class by the last quarter. I will be contacting the school next week to get specifics on attrition rates. I'll also be going to the OPEN HOUSE in January to get more info about that.
For me, a decision comes down to whether a school's program is a good fit or not, and that's what I hope to find out before I send my deposit in.. Not sure if a bit longer program may best suit my lifestyle, stay tuned.. :)
PS. Sorry if my previous posted concern, may have caused some stress.. I think the best thing to do is get more specific information from Drexel.
Congratulations j450n! I'll look forward to meeting you next Fall!Just out of curiousity, how many of you are out-of-state, and what are you doing for housing?
When I was attending the Drexel School of Public Health (Center City Campus), I stayed at Stiles Alumni Hall, an apartment highrise that Drexel owns. It's directly across the street from Hahnemann Hospital/New College Building, which made it very convenient!!! It's also near a subway line. University City or the City Line Avenue area are also nice places to live if you do not want to live on-campus or in Center City. I love Philly because almost any place you need to get to is accessible via public transportation.

Thank you so much!! I received Drexel's new student confirmation packet, and they had information about Stiles Hall. My boyfriend plans on relocating with me, so I'm not sure how that will work out. I could make him marry me beforehand ;-).
Did you enjoy living in Stiles?
Overall, I really enjoyed living in Stiles. Probably because most of my classmates in my program lived there, which made things more fun. Again, I loved how it was conveniently located near my school!! However, the living conditions aren't bad. If you don't marry your bf beforehand , you are assigned a roommate (typically someone in your program) if you select a 2 or 3 bedroom apt (avoid Room C if you are assigned a 3 bedroom!! It's a tiny bedroom compared to the other two rooms!!). The apartments are unfurnished, so you are responsible for getting your own furniture (fyi: a lot of students have to leave their furniture behind and they usually sell it at low prices near the end of each quarter or give it away...so you can potentially get some free stuff!). One washer/dryer is located on every floor, which means that sometimes you'll have to search other floors for a vacant washer/dryer if you need to do laundry. Let's see...what else.... If something goes wrong in your apt, maintenance is usually quick about fixing the problem. If you ever have any more questions about living at Stiles, I'll gladly try to answer them. I used to work part-time in the Stiles office as well :)
MPHgirl- do you know anything about the housing for married students? My husband and I currently live in West Philly, but have been thinking about trying to do the campus housing. And what's the pet policy? Thanks!
Cat
Hi Cat,
I'm fairly certain that Stiles is only for single students, though you might want to double check as their policy might have changed since two years ago. No pets, though I know a few students did manage to have fish :)

Hi,
I'm in the second trimester of the program now. Of my cohorts, I've only noticed two persons who dropped. Both of whom will be returning in the spring.
I wish that I had the "luxury" of pursuing a less-condensed program but time is money and money is time and I'm short of both.
So far, I am doing ok but I spend so much time cramming for tests that I have little chance to absorb the material. I have three clinicals per week and spend close to 16 hours over two days sitting in powerpoint heaven. Clinicals take up over 21 hours/wk plus the time commuting to and fro. I usually go consecutive nights on less than 5 hours of sleep/night. I hardly get enough exercise.
However, I am now in a rhythm where I almost know how to manage study vs. clinical info. and predict that I will go up in grades. I have two terrific clinical instructors and one who is, uhuuum, rides on a broom stick.
There are many support services here, just no time to use them. lol.
Good luck!
