Drexel ACE Fall 2010

Published

Has anyone heard back from Drexel for the fall 2010 class? My husband attended the info session for me a few weeks ago (he works in Philly and I had to work late), and he loved the school. On their website it says you have to have 7 pre-reqs completed prior to applying, but then it says they will not review transcripts until after you are accepted. Does anyone have any info on this?

Thanks AugustRain but I don't think I have posted enough times to be able to PM anyone yet...will work on that now :)

Has anyone taken one of the CLEP tests from collegeboard to pass out of one of the prerequisites? I plan on taking developmental psychology this summer and am wondering how much to prepare for it.

Is CLEP an option? I didn't realize it was, but that would be awesome, I took a higher level sociology class, which won't cover the intro preqreq:\

I didn't CLEP out of anything but I was told it was an option. I thought about doing it for Intro Psych but didn't know if I remembered enough and didn't feel comfortable preparing on my own. If you're comfortable with the material it's definitely the cheaper, quicker option!

I graduated ACE last fall, and I didn't actually take an intro to sociology either. Call them and ask if your high level Sociology can actually take place of the introduction. I took a Prob and Stat class in college, not for the health sciences, they accepted it, so who knows. It's worth a try.

Thanks! Can you (or anyone else) point me in the direction of who to call? I feel like every time I try and call I get told to call a different department where no one picks up the phone. I had e-mailed someone shortly after getting my transcript evaluation about the sociology thing and my nutrition class (I'm one credit short, yet they still put it on the transferred list...), but I never got a reply.

I'm sorry, I really am not sure. I think a friend of mine told me she just showed up at the office and asked the receptionist who to ask, and was directed very quickly. The woman who helped me getting my things together left the university shortly after I started.

I received my financial aid information today:uhoh3: Does anyone know of any local Philadelphia hospitals that do student loan repayment in exchange for work commitments?

I think because of the economy, most hospitals have stopped doing these programs. Are there any sorts of grants or subsidized loans they offered you?? I haven't gotten mine yet.

No grants, but IIRC it was $5,000 in subsidized and $2,500 in unsubsidized Stafford loans.

Specializes in CSICU/CTICU.

The program in total is about $35g, right? What is cost of living in Philly like..compared to lets say, oh, crazy NYC...?

Elle

I think the cost is about $35k, but the cost of living in Philly is much cheaper than NYC, which is where I am. Just check craigslist. For the price of renting a room in someone's tiny Manhattan apt, you can get a room in a luxury apt in Philly. Big, big difference. I'm not saying Philly is cheap, but when you're coming from NYC, it's cheap. Even the grocery stores are cheaper. Meat and veggies are especially cheaper in Philly.
