I know nursing school has cliques and stuff but in my class, I just hate some of these students. I know it is a competitive atmosphere and you dont trust anyone. Some of my classmates are very stuck up and think they are just better than everyone else. Some of my classmates are very hostile. Some of my classmates talk behind people's back. The list goes on in my class. I guess it is just a reflection of the working world where you dont like everyone. I think I should be glad that I have some friendly aquitances at least. I know that in school you are only there to learn and not make friends.
I strongly DISLIKED some of my classmates. There was "the Trio", three women who would grades-grub, shoot dirty looks, compare grades, monitor what their other classmates where doing, ad nauseum:uhoh21: . I did get sick of it and confronted them, which at least let them know I wasn't afraid to call them on their ca-ca. One flunked out during med-surg(after being fired from an LTC for getting some poor resident to lend her 2,000 dollars:eek: ) and another one didn't pass her boards. Too damn busy condemning us "dumb folk" I am in touch with ONE woman from that class, and that's OK with me. I'm embarking on a great career, and forging relationships with positive, knowledgeable nurses. Thank God for our mentors, they are out there!:)
Absolutely not and I'm not about to go digging any up to prove a point that most everyone knows it true. :)I just got out of high school...girls are just not nice to each other, like it or not. You can choose to ignore this 'stereotype' but it's plainly obvious if you take a look around.
Take another picture. I find men and women equally not nice to each other. (ever been in a boy's high school locker room? Ever see gangs of boys walking down the street?) But overwhelmingly people are nice to each other, just a few trolls giving an entire gender a stereotype.
I find it a stereotype. It saddens me that someone as young as you are buys into it. (Hopefully, you're not mean and use the excuse "it's only because girls are mean, get used to it, that's life") But you're entitled to have you're opinion. It's just not plainly obvious to me that it's a gender issue. Thanks.

So since everyone "knows" it's true, then it MUST be true?
In your opinion, that is.
This isn't high school anymore, a big difference.
Some girls (girls????) tend to not be nice when people make negative stereotypical comments on them as a whole, instead of viewing by the individual, go figure. Some women might feel the same.
I choose to be the difference, and not stereotype (since it solves nothing), and then go on to pawn it off as an excuse for bad behavior of others.
As long as people soak up the stereotype, it'll continue to thrive. In other words, what you said about "girls" is only fueling it, there's no solution in it.
Male or female, doesn't matter.
Hm. No Tweety, just to clarify I am certainly NOT mean and consider myself to be an extremely nice person. I find it ridiculous when women use the excuse of 'well, I'm allowed to be a b*tch' simply because of their gender. I really find that to be ignorant.
Yes, Marie. *gasp* I used the term girls. I didn't realize it was so offensive. Anyways, I was sort of referring to the age difference here. Women my age tend to be more insecure which fuels the backstabbing/talking about others. That's wonderful that you refuse to be the stereotype, I am the same way. I don't want to be just another girl who acts sweet to a friend's face and then says hurtful things behind her back. However, you have to realize that there are so many who don't bother to change the stereotype and continue to cause unnecessary drama. It's not high school, but sometimes it sure feels like it still is.
Now I really don't think that was fair. I don't think she is 'instigating' anything. I think the way that the post was worded made her come on a little more strongly than I'm sure she'd have liked, but I don't think she meant any harm.
Check out his previous posts, and you'll see why I commented as I did.

I know I will get flamed but I kind of agree with this. Just yesterday my daughter (who is in 7th grade) told me for umpteenth time how mean the 8th graders are to the 7th graders in the girls PE locker room. The 8th graders are just plain mean to them telling them to get out of the way and such. They fell they are better than the 7th graders simply because they are now 8th graders. Luckily, I have taught my daughter that that type of behavior is wrong and that we ALL should be treated with respect.
When I was in High School I hung around with guys (as FRIENDS) because I got tired of all the "Oh you look so cute today" to your face and then "Did you SEE what she was wearing and how FAT it made her look" behind your back. To this day I do not have many female friends because of it.
I really hope it is not like that when I get a job at a hospital.
