Fill in the blank with any advice you can give students who have just been accepted into a program or who are thinking about embarking on the journey of nursing school.

Here's mine:

DON'T GO INTO NURSING SCHOOL IF you haven't done your own research about the realities of the profession. Good, bad, truth, and common myths & misconceptions.

Yall's turn!

Don't go into nursing school I you don't know how to prayer. Believe me, you will learn how to pray and cry out to God in the process of nursing school.

Totally nothing wrong with this statement; it is the poster's opinion and she is entitled to it. Just like the atheists are entitled to theirs.

......if you cannot let everything/anything roll off your back without bothering you!!!!

Don't go to nursing school if you are doing it for the money.

Pls go to Nursing school for the money; just be sure to bring your best efforts and work ethics to it:up:

Do not go into nursing if you have poor time management skills

Do not go into nursing if you refuse to prioritize

Do not go into Nursing if your sole purpose is to be a martyr

Do not go into Nursing , if you are unwilling to be flexible

Do not go into Nursing, if you fail to see the bigger picture

Do not go into Nursing if you do not understand that Nursing is a business

Do NOT go into Nursing school if you suddenly have a rethink of your "dreams" from reading this thread.

You know what I mean.

Yes, I think I do. You're implying that you have to have a calling to become a nurse; that doing it for the money is somehow not good enough. I disagree. If you're interested in nursing, if you have the slightest idea what you're getting into and you want to do it for reasons other than a calling, good for you. What nursing needs these days is more people who want to be nurses, for whatever reason, and not so many who see nursing as a stepping stone to "bigger and better" things.

Atheist people -_-. What's your hope in life then? living, dying and then game over?

A question for another thread -- if you're genuinely interested, that is.

Hahaha I'd like to know why someone said don't go into nursing if you are really pretty? Good looking people can't be nurses?

Probably a veiled reference to the number of threads we had a couple of years ago from new grads who couldn't get along with their co-workers and decided it was because they were just so darned beautiful that everyone else was just jealous of them. If you're looking for entertainment, dig up those threads. Some of them are hysterical!

Don't go into nursing school if:

You expect to stay beautiful and skinny your entire life, esp if this is your career fresh out of college at 22.

Expect to become obese, sorry that's the way it is.

Also expect some under eye bags and dark circles(courtesy of working nights).

MODERATOR NOTE:

Lets keep on topic!

This is a thread about the expectations of being a nurse which has been fun. It is not about debating religion.

If you wish to debate religion or the lack thereof....please start another thread.

If you are expecting to find McDreamy or McSteamy 'cause giiiiiiirl I have yet to find either :roflmao:

Pretty much. My main goal in life is to see the world. I have no concerns about what may or may not happen to my "soul" after I die.

You guys are gonna get a good, useful thread shut down with your crap. Seriously, cut it out with the theological debates!!!

Don't go into nursing if... You don't mind working 8 hours straight without a lunch or bathroom break sometimes.. Or a lot of the time :)

Twelve hours straight.

And if you have babies at home and want to continue breastfeeding, you can kiss that dream goodbye...
