The way that this Covid vaccine works is quite different from the flu shot. The Covid vax. is not a (dead) bacteria or virus being injected into your body. (With Pfizer & Moderna) RNA (called messenger RNA) that's been coded in a lab goes into your arm. The RNA has instructions, or a code, that gets deposited on the cell. The ribosomes of the cell make a spike protein. It looks similar to the spike protein on the surface of the actual Corona virus. Then your body is supposed to make antibodies (antigens) that goes after the spike protein and neutralize it.
The problem is that this has not been tested in any long-term studies, so, this is more of an experiment. We don't know whether or not the DNA gets permanently changed (possibly bad). We're talking about something that's not supposed to be in your body (made in a lab) that can bind to the surface of your cells and possibly may not be able to be reversed.
Also, since the drug is still being evaluated for long term adverse effects, pregnancy, etc., the FDA would not license the drug, but instead, put out as EUA... Emergency Use Authorization.

To answer my own question. Not a thing.
@Jack
After a bit of research I can now declare that your sources receive a failing grade. F-. I had a suspicion that they probably wouldn’t become my go-to site for medical and scientific information and man, was I right.
I listened to a podcast, well the first six or seven minutes of it. At that point I couldn’t take any more. I deserve a medal for getting past the first minute of unadulerated drivel.
Jack, did you know that they have a theory about what causes Covid-19 infections? Not quite 5G but close. Well, sort of.
You see, the reason Covid-19 started spreading in nursing homes was that they changed phone systems and put in Wi-Fi... Inquiring minds want to know why mostly the elderly got severely sick and not as many nurses? Well, they had an answer to that question... It was the combination of the Wi-Fi phone systems AND the ”inhibitory drugs” that the residents in nursing homes are given in order to be kept calm. (Inhibitory drugs was explained as sleeping pills and antipsychotics). So now we know... Wi-Fi + inhibitory drugs = Covid-19. But not to worry, it seems like aged cheese and goose liver is the magic cure and/or prevention... Not sure about the last part, because I stopped listening. (I’ve not been able to find any evidence that the advice about the food is supported by research and of course the disease-causing mechanism they propose is 100% unlikely).
You need better quality sources.

(I don’t want to provide a link to the Youtube clip because right now it only has a handful of likes/thumbs up and I really don’t want to encourage more traffic).

As far as what stimulates you intellectually that is of no concern to me. What concerns me is your mention of science as if it is an unflinching, never changing authority that must never be questioned. However, history has often revealed to us that science is very fluid, always changing, and often wrong in its’ initial assertions. And that is reality, whether you choose to believe it or not. Medicine is no different. Without proper trials, and experiments there is always the potential for harm. Can you provide any known studies....that show this vaccine has been adequately tested and its’ longterm effects are know??
Keep in mind that the same people who are hastily saying today that the vaccine is safe and effective, are the very same people who not that long ago said the “science” showed that Covid was not transmissible between people, and masks and shutdowns weren’t necessary. Color me a skeptic if you wish.
So ST, have you read some of Macawake's posts? Anyone who reads as much and articulates as well, surely understands what are the implications of science especially if you read how macawake arrives at his/her conclusions.
I think that some of us have determined through posts who we listen to and who spouts drivel. You are obviously a sceptic and should remain that way but you have to identify the sources you should be sceptical about. Or, you might arrive at the wrong conclusions.

Well to be honest, I am not as cultured as some of the other people here, so I urge you to continue to listen to Trump. I really can't be bothered if you are infected or not except you might infect more innocent people and use my tax dollars in ICU. That's my only concern re the vaccine. I'm a seriously selfish person and I need to get out and have some fun the old fashioned way and people like you are hindering my fun times!

It's pretty appalling that people continue downplay the mention of long term effects from this vaccine. Nobody knows, not scientists, not us. There is no way to know until the subject can be discussed in retrospect. Science can't fast forward to the future. This is a gamble, a roll of the dice. I got off this thread the other day because I grew tired of being insulted, and found my arguments to be futile here. Someone mentioned common sense somewhere along this thread. I can't understand why it's so hard to see the fact that without long term studies, there is no true data to determine long term effects. Ray Charles could see that.?♀️

Your anxiety over an imagined long term negative consequence is interesting. Why does this unsubstantiated fear get priority in your assessments?
I would become scared if certain companies or people were involved in the process of the vaccines.
I would not take the Russian or Chinese vaccine because of their govts lack of oversight and their appalling abuses to their own people. I would not trust their research or anything they say about their vaccines. I would not take the vaccines if companies like Dupont, the Koch Brothers, Union Carbide etc were involved in their manufacturing or research because of their repeated incidents of political manipulating to get around oversight and regulations in their industries for profit margins creating repeated incidents involving disasters that hurt people, environments and economies. I would not take the vaccines if people like Dick Cheney, Rex Tillerson, Steve Mnuchin, Elon Musk etc because of their appalling character deficits and morally bankrupt nature were involved in any way with a company researching, manufacturing or marketing the vaccines.
It comes down to trust for me. If I walked into a restaurant and it's dirty, smelly incl the servers etc, I'm walking out!
I also wonder for all the sceptics, if they are also boycotting the foods, products, plastics, pollution, water, old lead painted buildings, Detroit, Appalachia, Goya, everything that seems to be polluted or manufactured by a disreputable company or headed by a dubious executive, as well!

Yes, but, our own government has never mislead its citizens throughout the years? Tuskegee Experiment sound familiar? What makes you trust a guy like Bill Gates, who is very involved in the funding of the mRNA vaccines and he has been banned from 20+ different countries over the years?

Because it's Bill Gates. The guy responsible for donating billions to good causes worldwide, improving education possibilities for kids, funding research into vaccines(I think), water conservation and he's not a blabber mouth!
Actions speak louder than words!

How invested are you in these conspiracy theories? Do you have time to read any reputable publications? Do you read anything reputable?

What countries has he been banned from? I can't find any. Please give proper, verifiable sources.

This blog is the perfect example of what wrong. Disinformation, conspiracy theories, non-science-based thoughts and ideas. I am blown away by some of the posts. As my dear friend and RN-educator says often, "sense isn't common." A lot of proof in these threads that she is correct, even among seemingly educated nurses. Done with this insanity. But we did enjoy a mask-less Sunday with my parents and siblings, all of us have been vaccinated and are enjoying a semi-return to normalcy. #thanksscience
