Not only do I learn new things or find clarification on this site but sometimes when the day has been long and rough there is a post that exactly describes how I feel--now I have validated my feelings and probably also found something to laugh about.. This keeps me soldiering on knowing I am one of many who share this profession with its difficulties and triumphs.

In answering Yes to making one a 'better' nurse in respect to the person as a whole. Feeling better about yourself by offloading a negative day helps you to look forward to the next shift. that in itself can make one a better functioning positive nurse. cheers, have a great day..:nurse:

I think Allnurses.com makes a better future nurse too. Due to certain circumstances I have not yet entered nursing school. I have almost all my pre-reqs done though, and am anxiously awaiting to start nursing school. I'll find out when my start date is later this month. (After they draw the lottery) With that said, Allnurses is where I go for nursing related topics and conversations. I have learned so much by listening to nurses and students alike. I am very grateful that we have such a great place to meet and discuss issues.

Thanks Allnurses.com

I only have not taken boards yet, 2/2010. I think this sight is very helpful. I am amazed at how much nurses are willing to help other nurses, it makes me more happy that I decided on nursing as a career. I believe this sight helps one to become a better nurse because you can gain great information from seasoned nurses, learn from others mistakes, and get quick answers.... and if you wait awhile you will find out ASAP if that answer was wrong because everbody is watching what is posted. I plan to use this sight as long as I am a nurse to help me become a better one and maybe one day I will be able to help others here.

Hello,

I am posting to this thread because after answering the poll we are requested to post a reply and well...here is my reply.

I do not discount the potential for someone to feel like this forum may make them a better nurse, however I am not nor have I felt any assistance on my nursing care from this forum. At least in hindsight I cannot recall where this site has ever helped me feel like a better, *nurse*.

What I have felt, through the years, is that there are some aggressive forum moderators. However, with so many members it seems that the slash and burn style of banning is sort of like sending all toddlers in a dispute to the corner, whether or not someone was actually involved in it or not. There are not specific instances I can think of because when I've been banned from a thread or topic or even from posting I've always been baffled as to "what the ?"

Yes. Allnurses gives me a forum to ask and answer clinical questions, or atleast point me in the right direction to find the answers. It also gives me a forum to seek support during trying times at work, advice on how to deal with specific situations at work or with patients and it keeps me informed about nursing news around the country/world. It is a wonderful resource!

Ok, maybe being a "better nurse" is too strong, but enhanced my knowledge base. Sharing stories, knowledge and/or experiences makes me feel more like a

good nurse. I find there is always new and good information on Allnurses.com, and to be able to compare to other nurses in other states, and countries. Thank you for all you do provide to us, and let us provide to others.

I direct all my students to check out "Allnurses" because I think it can be a good source of support from other students, good resource (care plans, data forms etc) and just a great place to learn all the aspects of nursing.

Re: moderators. We can be a very vocal (read inappropriate) bunch at times and when the comments get aggressive or even nasty (The ER nurse blog), I think it's more then appropriate for the moderators to step in and close the blog. This is a well moderated forum. :redpinkhe

This place is a great source of information. I am happy that there is a place such as this where everyone who makes nursing what it is can come together and just learn from one another. Love this place!

Well this is only my third post on here, but I've been reading this site for months, I'm only a Pr-Nursing student, and I think your site is great, I'm learning so much, reading about people's experiences, something you don't get in a textbook. I love allnurses.com :anpom: :lvan::anpom:

I can not express enough how this site has helped me to became a better LPN and a better nursing student. I find here answers and support that I can not find anywhere else. I love allnurses.com! You guys are great!
