My aunt sent me this, and I thought it was funny.

>A little something to ponder over...

>a. The number of physicians in the US is 700,000.

>b. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year is 120,000.

>c. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171. (US Dept.of Health & Human Services)

>

>Then think about this:

>a. The number of gun owners in the US is 80,000,000 (yes, eighty-million!).

>b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.

>c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188.

>

>Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

>

>FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.

>

>Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand. As a public health measure I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear that the shock could cause people to seek medical attention.

In all seriousness you have a valid point.

They aren't actually more dangerous unless you are talking about ACCIDENTAL gun deaths vs. ACCIDENTAL medical deaths. Now look at intentional deaths and you'll get another picture. It is funny though...

I just pray this does not get into yet another gun control debate. Valid points to be sure, but I hate those debates!

Yes, they forgot to mention Dr. related intentional deaths...lol. On a serious note, though, this kinda adds another dimension to the high cost of problem, huh?

It probably wound'nt be so bad if doctors didn't go off all half cocked....... Ah, I thought is was funny. Good point though.

Guy I went to High School with is a well respected internist.

About 10 years ago he and some others went turkey hunting....first time for him.

Now this guy has a fairly high IQ.I mean he can cipher and do rithmetic and he sort of can write prescriptions.......

Well he went out in the bushes...in brown camo...and started "calling"wallable,wallable....." his idea of a turkey call......he ended up in our ER with birdshot in his behind......yep doctors and guns......his buddies reminded him turkeys don't fly .
