Do you wear makeup?

I have been wondering about this for some time now! lol

Does anyone worry about hair/makeup while in school and at clinicals/on the job? It may sound silly for me to ask, but for me, knowing how "dirty" the job can be, it helps me to feel good if I am well groomed. (does that make sense?!)

Anyway, just wondering what your thoughts are on this!

You better believe I do! At age 58, I look like an anemic Klingon without it :rotfl:

I wear a little powder and blush to give my face some color but that's it.

I never wear make up

Geez...and I was hoping you'd post pictures! :p

Myself--just chapstick. (I like cherry flavored best.)

Being an organic type girl, my make-up is always very light. But, I do think it is appropriate to present yourself professionally. Looking like you just rolled out of bed, IMO, is not professional. However, if you are one of those natural beauties who looks great au natural, go for it. On the flip side, keep in mind that no one wants Tammy Faye Baker look-a-likes caring for them. Kind of scary at 7am!

I believe it is perfectly okay to wear makeup and put your hair up nicely. This must be done tastefully, though, NOT in excess. Now perfume is another matter entirely. I don't recommend wearing it in the clinical setting, as many people (patients and staff) are "allergic" or easily offended. Perfume or strong deodorants, body lotion, etc. can set off an asthma attack in some people. If someone feels they absolutely MUST wear perfume, it should not be a strong scent and should be applied lightly.

I completely agree about the perfume thing...it tends to bother everyone, not just the patients in a hospital setting. But I use to work with this woman who wore Toca (sold on QVC) that smelled like fresh laundry (sounds weird, but smelled good) and EVERYONE loved it...I guess since it wansn't floral or musky. I also never wear that Victoria's secret, dept. store lotions b/c that smell can be offensive too, but I get a lot of compliments when I wear that pink bottled J&J baby lotion even just on my hands, weird huh?

I wear it when I feel like it, which isn't very often. It all depends on what time i have to do it. no onw would want to seem me try and put any on before 9. for classes some days i get especially lazy and go in pajama pants and a hoody, But those are for thoses days of lectures. but that's just me.

I have always worn make-up even back when I was in Nursing school. I don't feel dressed without it, & I don't want to scare my patients!
