  1. Maybe he could talk to the Embassy there. I've heard they can pull some major strings!! Good luck.
  2. Hey all, I'm in need of nurse's opinions on overtime. Specifically, are there any motivators besides money to get you to work overtime? Also, do you have any recommendations to new nurses regarding overtime? Thank you sooo much!
  3. We were told that we had to be bathed by classmates. As it turned out, there was no intention for us to be naked. They recommended bathing suits or shorts and t-shirts. Not one person wore a bathing suit. Every single one of us wore shorts. It was *so* not a big deal. We were so hyped over it, and it turned out to be a piece of cake. We were very new to each other and all self-conscious, but very respectful of each other.
  4. Being an organic type girl, my make-up is always very light. But, I do think it is appropriate to present yourself professionally. Looking like you just rolled out of bed, IMO, is not professional. However, if you are one of those natural beauties who looks great au natural, go for it. On the flip side, keep in mind that no one wants Tammy Faye Baker look-a-likes caring for them. Kind of scary at 7am!
  5. Silly question....what does one do with a class pin after graduation? And, what is the purpose of a pin? Sorry to ask, I had never heard of such a thing until recently.
  6. Could you do a jab at a TV game show, like Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, or Who Wants to be a Millionaire? I don't know how much time you have, but it could be fun. Or a Lifestyles of the rich and famous segment, except turn it into Life changes of the sick and hospitalized. Instead of visiting classy resorts, you could visit the cath lab, etc. and instead of pricey meals, you could indulge in pricey meds. I'm not very creative either- that's the best I can offer!
  7. I had a relationship with a fellow student in nursing school. It wasn't a big deal for us, but many of our classmates had issues with it. I can only imagine how coworkers would talk if that had happened on the job! When we ended our relationship, we remained friends but it was weird for awhile. I do think dating other nurses is good, as you have someone who understands your career and can empathize, but I agree with the other posters that it should be someone in a different unit.
  8. Hey, I confess to being a non-curve blower. I usually score in the average range, but I do not despise the curve blowers, I admire them. No sense in hurting your grade because people like me don't study as much as they should. More power to ya!
  9. I have no experience with this school, but there are postings in the Student Nursing thread (I think...) that address the college. You may want to look into it before you proceed. Try this: https://allnurses.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40960 Good luck!
  10. I took Microbiology through the University of Idaho. It was a self-paced course. VERY easy, with no lab. Here is the link, if you are interested. http://www.uidaho.edu/isi/courses/mmbb154.htm Be sure you check with your school to determine equivalency! Good luck.
  11. You may want to consider independent study for your soc, nutrition, and other non-science courses. I found them to be extremely easy and much shorter than a semester-long course. Of course, check with your school to see what they accept. Good luck!
