How to become a nurse in San Diego

Yes, they require: A&P I/II Microbiology Statistics As well as some general ones, like English, that you most likely would have completed in your degree. Contact them, they are great. I unfortunately do not have the credentials to get in, but am cheering for you! :balloons:

How to become a nurse in San Diego

Alicia, There is a great program for you at USD (University San Diego). It's called a Masters Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN), and despite how competitive the program is, you sound like a shoe-in with your background. The program is 3 years in length with the first year devoted completely to getting your RN license, and then years 2 and 3 to getting your Masters degree, and they offer a Nurse Practitioner track. I would highly recommend checking it out! I have lots of information on the program, so please let me know if I can answer any questions for you! :)

    Anatomy Physiology Club....NOT A&P

Thanks for your reply! Now here is the next natural question to ask.... what if I can ONLY get physiology this semester.... should I take, or wait until next semester and hope to actually get into the anatomy class?

    Anatomy Physiology Club....NOT A&P

I am either going to be taking anatomy or physiology this semester. I am waitlisted, so we'll see. If I had to take physiology first, would this just not make sense? Do I benefit more from taking anatomy before physiology? Thanks!

Direct Entry Programs- How hard to get in?

Congratulations ChrisA, that is an extremely difficult program to get into! Good luck and let us know how it turns out! :)
  9. Hey there, I am starting fresh with all my science courses, so I am taking Human Physiology this semester, starting at the end of Jan. Good luck to you!
  10. Thanks for your responses everyone! I'm really excited to be on this path, and just have to keep that in mind through all my prereqs. :)
  11. What school were you accepted to? And Congratulations! :)
  12. Hi everyone, I start Human Physiology on January 31st. Well, hopefully - I am on the waitlist as these clases are incredibly difficult to get in my area. So wish me luck! I am taking it seperately, but would have preferred the A&P I/ A&P II style if they offered it. I am nervous about taking physiology before anatomy.... should this be a concern? Thanks!

    California nursing programs

Hi Kristina, I have done a lot of research into Direct Entry Masters and Accelerated BSN program in CA. USD's program is excellent, but they take only about 40 people per YEAR and there are always 500+ applicants. Crazy. So for Direct Entry Masters in Southern California, that leaves Western in Corona. Cal State Long Beach has an Accelerated BSN as done Mount St. Mary's in LA. Azuza Pacific has also started a program that I just heard about - can't remember now if it's a Direct Entry or Accelerated. I am in the process of compiling a spreadsheet which lists all the schools in the nation offering the various programs for second degree nursing students, and would be happy to send you a copy when I'm finished if you send me a PM. It's a competitive road, but we'll get there! :)
  14. Thank you for your replies - keep 'em coming! :)

    What does R.N. J.D. mean??

Just curious - where do you go to school?
  16. Just curious as to where you go to school, how you like it, what your long-term goal is, and any other info you feel like sharing! :) I am looking at Accerlated BSN programs and Direct Entry Masters programs around the country, since only one very competitive program exists in San Diego. My goal is to be a FNP someday, hopefully sooner than later. :) Have a wonderful day!
