To wear scrubs when u enter the clinical phase in nursing school???

You guys are lucky! We have to wear red scrubs. Somewhere between crimson and blood red with black scrub pants and either all white or all black shoes. We have a white lab coat too. It looks like Betty Boup through up all over us lol. Polos would be a good send.

Scrubs when in clinical. We can wear scrubs or nice dress when we go the day before clinical to gather info on our patient for the next day. In class, what ever we want to wear, within reason.

Specializes in Aged Care, Midwifery, Palliative Care.

We wear a Navy blue school polo shirt, with a white University design above the pocket on the left and Nursing embroidered on the right side. We can wear navy blue dress pants or a navy blue straight skirt with blue stockings and black shoes. They just changed the navy blue polo's to Purple with the uni design embroidered in green. While purple is my favourite colour, I prefer wearing the navy blue to clinicals. Just matches in better with the same coloured skirt.

I think our uniform is professional looking, but really I'd prefer to wear scrubs.

Specializes in LTC, Psych, Hospice.

Hunter green scrubs to clinical. Anything we want to class.

In my program (BSN) we are required to be dressed in our uniforms and abide by the dress code written in our student hand book!

For lecture, we have to dress "business casual." (No jeans, t-shirts, tank tops, tennis shoes, etc.) So, I basically alternate between a few pairs of khakis, dress pants, and blouses; thank goodness that's only for two days a week!

For clinical and lab, we have to wear our "uniforms." They're royal blue scrubs with our school crest on the upper right chest, school name badge on the upper left chest, and facility ID on either side as long as it's at eye level. We cannot wear lab coats, but we can wear a long-sleeved white t-shirt underneath, as long as we can push up the sleeves and they remain clean (I usually opt out of this and just wear a light jacket that I can stash in my bag during clinical.). We have to wear our watches as well, and anyone with hair that touches the shoulders has to be pulled up and back. And, we have to wear all white, "leather-type" tennis shoes that have to be spotless when we're there.

It's pretty intense, right? At least the diploma program is required to do the same (I'm in the ADN program.) And, respiratory therapy, dental hygeine, and surgical technicians are required to do the same.

Yep, on our campus, the medical fields stick out like a sore thumb, so to speak!

Specializes in Renal/Telemetry; Critical Care.

We wear white scrub pants with a royal blue scrub top!

Specializes in Emergency/Cath Lab.

All black, head to toe with option of black or white shoes. School name is embroidered on the left breast, but no breast pockets and it drives me nuts!

We have to wear royal blue scrub pants, and a white top with the school crest on the right side.

Specializes in Emergency Dept. Trauma. Pediatrics.

Sim Labs, Skills test out, Patient Research and Clinicals we had to wear our scrubs with school logo embroidered on the left breast area. Psych clinicals we wore regular clothes, but no logos or blue jeans. So sorta casual but not too casual.

Navy blue scrub pants, white scrub top with school logo in navy on left shoulder. ID badge, white shoes, white socks, hair up (no bangs). We also have restrictions on makeup (minimal), jewelry (one pair stud earrings, no necklaces, smooth band rings only (no raised stones)), nails (trimmed to fingertips, no polish, no acrylics), etc. etc. etc. - for all classes and clinicals. :)
