Do you shower when you get off work???

Published

I'm just curious if those of you who have nurse-to-patient contact... Do you shower when you get home from work??

I'm kind of a freak when it comes to showering... I have to shower in the morning and then before bed each night... So I know once I start working in the field, I will be showering when I get home anyway, but I'm curious if I wasn't this way to begin with if I would still shower or not...

Just curious...

do shower always before and after the work.

OMG, my hair and skin would be fried.

what do u mean OMG?

I shower in the morning and as soon as I get home. I am walking to the laundry room stripping to get the clothes in the wash, especially in the summer. I sweat from the back, not the front, so my hair and back are soaked. Many a time on the drive home have lawn sprinklers been so tempting:)

OMG = Oh My God/Gosh

OK- so everyone's showering like crazy- the real question is- how do you keep your skin from drying and cracking???

If I'm not just as obsessive about lotion, my hands crack and bleed, which, as we all know, invites all kind of fun stuff....

Any tips on good lotion you don't have to apply 9 million times a day?

I always change when I get home, and have a separate hamper for scrubs.

I work ortho, and sometimes have med/surg patients, so I'm not particularly grossed out by my patients. They should probably be more concerned about what I'm bringing into the hospital (pets, I ride public transit, etc)

I think wiping myself down with SaniWipes before entering my building would be a bit overkill.

I shower and shampoo before and after work. I also strip down the minute I come into the house and throw my clothes into the wash.

I have bad allegies so I have to be very careful with what I use. I apply a little Suave cocoa butter all over in the morning and again after I shower at night. It really works.

I always shower when I come home. I can't imagine not showering after being in such a filthy environment as well as that hospital smell. Just 'cause we don't see the germs doesn't mean they aren't there! Then again, I shower every evening regardless of work.

I like clean undies, sock and pj's, too! I love keeping the bed clean. I am very careful about washing the sheets, mattress pad, pillow case protectors and covers often.

Working long hours and then climbing into bed without a shower? Ewwww.

....and then to expect DH to snuggle and um, *ahem* with me? Well, I guess we're both clean freaks though because we both love to shower prior to getting into bed.

Obviously, it's not for everyone. Different strokes for different folks.

YESSSSS and I scrub hard with Dial! YICK, I can't go to bed with hospital cooties on me.

I leave my work shoes at work. My dog was sick once and ended up having pancreatitis. When I read the lab reports it said C. diff was in her poop!:uhoh21:

That's when I decided that my work shoes will never come home with me. I can't believe I gave my dog c. diff! Has anyone ever heard of that?
