I graduated in 1996, at my ceremony, I remember getting a lamp, and cap, but I remember no pin. Is this common practice for LPN's to be pinned?

We got our caps after first semester and a little nursing cap pin too. At graduation we will wear our nursing caps again and a white dress and get a pin that says our school name.
What do the lamps look like?

Four weeks ago was my pinning from my LPN program. At our school it's a big deal. So much so, that most of the nursing students feel that graduation is a minor thing and most don't even go. Tomorrow is our graduation with caps & gowns.

Graduated 2006 we were capped, pinned and had lamps. Our RN grads wore lab coats and didn't have lamps or caps. However, they were each handed a white rose and the LPN's only got pink carnations.

The lamp we are referring to is the Florence Nightingale lamp.
